Diagnosing ABS pump fault

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am after a bit of help regarding my other halves 2007 1.9PD Golf has just had the ESP light come on. Plugged in VCDS and came up with the dreaded:

1 Fault Found:

01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)

012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

Tried to clear it anyway just in case and now the ABS light is on as well and cant seem to get rid of it now?

searched the net and came up with a lot of info regarding the ABS module being the main culprit but it could also be the brake pedal switch. What live measuring can i do to diagnose either or because i cant seem to get up measurement block 5?

Any ideas or help with this would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

well i have been out and it is reading -20bar in measuring block 5 with no pressure on the brake rising to around +50bar with quite a bit of pressure on it.

ABS and ESP MIL are both still on and it is now reading 2 fault codes:

2 Faults Found:

01486 - System Function Test Activated

000 - -

01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)

012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

am i right in thinking this is most likely to be the rather cheaper brake pressure sensor now?

thanks rwbaldwin for the links

The G201 sensor has failed and you need a new hydraulic block.

Go to your VW dealer and insist that they do the repair FOC. It's a known problem. If they try to avoid doing it FOC, insist that they report the fault through DISS and ask for contact details for VW customer support.

Hi VW dealer will repair FOC.
