Big Brother is watching your speedo...

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get insurance sorted out for my cars this month... How's this for Big Brother sticking their nose in...

Admiral quoted me

:o

Shocking.

Hmmm, wonder how easy it is to take off so they don't know your speeding. Maybe hide in the back of the local milk float so they don't realise what you've done!!! :D

Norwich Union are trialing a similar project for young drivers where they get a device fitted but its not related to speed, just a a scheme where your insurance premium is on a PAYG basis - the more you drive the more you pay. Makes sense, but its still a bit Big Brother.

Sod that, how long until Big Brother is watching everything (probably already is)

One day we'l have no freedom...

Dont support the scheme, the less people that do, the more likley it will die down.

Plus it's never going to save you money.

Even the most careful of drivers will on at least 4 occasions in a year exceed the limit by at least 10%.

33mph as you pull out onto the main road , ooops , thats just cost you 15 quid.

Go past a missing speed limit change sign , ooops , you have just done 50 in a 40 and it's cost you another 15 quid.

My god that's awful.

I'd get no money back.

No way, they'll be fitting GPS tracker in the tops of our heads soon and charging us for every step we take, and every breath of air we take!!!!!!

no money back for me either.

Have to agree, where do they draw the line, where does it all end...

 bye bye freedom

The end is when the speed limiters are fitted as std ( as in the Furby shown on TV recently). GPS and limiter stops you exceeding the speed limit - then its time to by a 49cc moped :(

then its time to by a 49cc moped :(

Then its time to move abroad...

then its time to clone your own car and drive as you like, while yours is sat at home doing bugger all milegae each year, now wheres my spare octy vrs ? ;)

take the GPS thingy do your 3 speeds and you have still saved

I wouldn't worry too much about the criminal prosecution side of things.

The police have to jump through loads of hoops just to carry out surveillance on big time criminals (Human rights stuff) so it would just not be worth the trouble.

Anyway, the camera partnerships are more than capable of hitting the finned creatures in the barrell when it comes to speeding enforcement.

Hopefully these GPS things will also take into account the weather conditions, the traffic conditions, the road conditions, the type of road, your state of mind, the time of day, the level of alcohol/drugs in your bloodstream and any of the hundreds of external hazards that need to be continually assessed to be sure that your speed is appropriate!

Or am I missing something :D

They are just perpetuating the myth that excessive speed is the sole cause of accidents.

(Human rights stuff) .

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrgh  I hate those words :D

How come they apply to though most inhuman of humans normally

Big brother can :finger:

So what's the deal then seriously are they saying there's no leaway or what? Surely not every time you do 31mph?
