MOT FAIL

Featured Replies

Front brakes unbalanced (34%). Any suggestions as to cause ,and cure. Possibly caliper sliders is my guess. Would be nice if the figures were given ,so as to target the correct side .

Strip both sides.. clean.. grease + refit...

Test on a brake tester..

If still not right 90% of the time a new set of discs + pads will cure..

If not it might be a seized/ partially seized calliper..

U should notice this when stripping + cleaning tho ;)

Unfortunately the brake readings don't print on the paperwork, the tester will have them on the check list and would have entered them on the computer. I usually try and type them in manually when entering the failure.

If it's the slider pins, you can often tell which side by brake pad wear. It's prudent to remove both sides though and give both the same clean up and treatment IMO. With things like ABS, sadly you can't test by seeing which one locks up first under hard braking.
