fog lights and remote central locking

Featured Replies

hi as title ,just wondering if it is possable to fit front fog lights and remote central locking to my octavia 1.6 classic ,if so how easy is it to do and what cost

thanks from savman

Look on the bright side - Without remote central locking you are less likely to return to your car and find all your windows open.

I got a pair of non OEM fog lamps "whilst I was thinking about it" from the firm I ordered a tow bar from. They languished on a shelf in the garage for nearly a year before I could be bothered screwing them to the bumper. (10 minute job barely need tools)

I keep meaning to finish the wiring with a simple rely/dash switch but it never happens. (I actually have the wiring done - just need to find a spot on the dash).

That said, they look OEM and finish the car off very well. No one knows they don't work so job's done for under 40 quid.

I will have to fix them or remove them befor the car has its NCT (MOT equivalent) in a years time.

In the meantime, two grand or 40 quid - your choice!

I'd stick with key entry as opposed to remote as its too much work to get it converted and as said at a cost.

Also front fog lights are not just plug and play as there is no wiring behind the bumper for them and a new switch is required also with some vcds work after.

As said above too much hassle unless you want to splash some cash.

i.ve heard that the keys(lock) wear out pretty quick and are expensive to replace

thanks for the advise guys looks like i'll be staying with basic setup then

You could fit an aftermarket CDL kit quite cheaply.

The kits are under £50 from ebay and a few hours to fit but you would have an extra remote on your keyring.

You can get some kits that have a fold out key style fob and you just order the correct blank to fit then get them cut at your local key cutters.

You may need to have a seperate immobaliser chip fitted to the fob though if yours has one.
