Best tyres for the VRS

Featured Replies

Second hand r888 not so good in the wet lol ;-)

my friend and I have just got a fiesta track day car, its a proper racing cup car, fully caged etc, and has some r888s, need something a bit better for the winter me thinks!

225 40 Good Year Eagle F1 all the way

they are great, forgot how good they were till this thread popped up and someone else mentioned them, had them on a fabia vrs i had last year..took me round the twisties in the pyrenees on some awesome driving roads!

Hankook V12 Evos

or preferably S1 Evos are amazing in the wet. Also quiet.

I had a set of the v12 ecos on my 4x4 in 225/45/17 and they were possibly the best tyre I have ever used. I would have liked to try them in the original 205/55/16 size for comparison as well. I ran them over the bad winter a few years ago and I had a blast. They were actually quite good in the white stuff and were very sure footed hitting standing water at motorway speeds (which is not nearly as scary with the haldex 4 wheel drive)

Last few tyres have come with various sets of alloys that I have traded. Currently got pilots on the front and nct5's on the back and I have to say the pilots are ****. Understeer is dreadful and am actually looking forward to getting my 15's shod with winter rubber on.

If those are Pilot Sports you're talking about - I didn't particularly rate them either. Pilot Exaltos were incredible, but in all honesty, I had them on my Golf pre-Octy, so not a fair comparison.

I really think Hankook make some incredible rubber and at Woerthersee there was a lot more of it than you see here. The S1 Evos have gone in my garage and will be coming back out next spring...

Picked up a set of five a3 pepperpots today for £51 :D. Two of them have Goodyear winters on already. Just need to pick the best four now out of the six I have to go on when I get the replacement 288 disks. The spare will need to be a non directional summer or winter though as re winters I have are all directional

Just had a proper look as I was using the site to see what tyre size I have.... mine are 215 but the site says they should be 205...... and some of you have been saying 225.... so what is it?

Oe size for 17 inch vrs alloys is 205/50/17. Closest non Oe size is 225/45/17 which are also cheaper than 205s

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

eagle f1s are a great tyre, really good actually

as are the vred ultrac sessantas

i rate the t1rs in the wet, had them on a number of cars with no issue at all.

i'm with you on the T1R'S they are really good in the wet!!!

funnily enough tho, my friend who has a new mini JCW, doesnt rate them at all, can't for the life of me work out why!

I don't either.

Takes all sorts :)

lol, it does indeed!

Me neither, but not just the T1R any 'v' tread pattern. .

I had the FK452's on my old Evo.

700+bhp and they still kept it on the black stuff ;)
