SE+ fog lamps

Featured Replies

Hi

I've been looking at a pre-reg SE+ Octavia given the deals leading upto the next gen car and see all vehicles for sale appear to be lacking front fog lamps - I know this is an option in the brochure at £200.

Can these be retrofitted? I think they're a pretty essential bit of kit.

Thanks in advance

They can be retrofitted but for a lot, lot more than £200.

The fogs light clusters also incorporate DRL's (Daytime Running Lights) which complicates things a little more.

You'll need a need headlight switch, additional wiring, the light clusters themselves and some coding to enable them and the DRL's.

Many dealers claim it can't be done, mainly because they don't want the work/hassle.

My advice would be to source the parts second hand and find a good auto-electrician and assume not much change from £400.

Better still buy an Elegance with them already fitted.

Why essential? I think I only use mine about once or twice a year, and that's only for a short distance on unlit country roads when visibility is really bad.

Essential - only this week I would have needed them, very foggy on't moors near me! The SE+ spec was a better option for me what with the sat nav, bluetooth and multi-function wheel. The price was more competitive than the Elegance spec too - and those auto wipers do my nut! Just little personal things really.

Fit some HIDs if there not already fitted, I found a massive difference the other day in the fog, especially at night, lit up the road ahead no problem

How easy would it be to fit them and make ONLY the DRL's work?
