My boot won't open

Featured Replies

For some strange reason my boot won't open. The solenoid pops it open but it gets stuck on the latch. Anyone else had this problem and anyone know how I could solve it?

Cheers Adam

Search on here it's quite common. Fold seat backs down get Ito boot that way remove small trim piece from around latch should just pull out then release orange catch to manually release boot. Now once boot is open you can now clearly see the auto release mechanism. Get a socket extension and hold it like you would stab someone horror movie style and clack the mechanism sort of a bit more that a tap but less than a full on hit. If you get what I mean

I did search but found nothing for the fabia. Thanks for the info though I will go and try that now :) cheers dude.

Happened to me a few days ago. How did you get round this? Did you fix this issue?

I've had this several times, can work out why it does it. i think it is when something in the boot stops the boot from shutting completely and it gets jammed within the latch?

As mentioned, you need to fold a backseat down from inside to access the boot (a pain if the boot is full!!), lever off the small bit of trim round the latch and manually move the release catch by hand.

I'm going to adjust the bracket which holds the boot lock into place this weekend. Think it needs adjusting as I had an accident 6 weeks ago and think the repairers didn't adjust it properly!

Hopefully that'll be my issue!!

I had this wd40 on the round part beside the latch inside bumper as ya lift the boot. Press it a few times after you've sprayed and it should work again. Mine would make the noise after pressing key fob but not open and just move a little but not open so did the above. No problems since.

Sent from my GT-N7000

That's great, I shall give it a go.
