My first Skoda, deposit paid for an Octavia VRS Estate CR170

Featured Replies

Despite being a member on here for sometime, I didn't actually have a Skoda.

Well that is about to change as I have just paid the deposit for a

Skoda Octavia Vrs Estate CR170

Standard Vrs spec with Auto Lights & Wipers, rear sensors, maxidot, spare wheel

Colour is Race Blue. I did want silver but as I could only order from what was available.

I will be adding soon: Columbus Sat Nav, Mfsw, Phone kit, MDI and Rear View Camera to start with

Build thread will be started once I pick the car up

Looking forward as this is my first new car, but feel sad to see my golf go

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts in due course on how the Golf and Octavia compare. And welcome. :)

I had a good test drive (120 miles) and enjoyed the demonstrator Vrs, I was interested in that but they said I would be better off with a new one.

The CR is a lot more refined than the PD engine, had to look under the bonnet to make sure it was a diesel.

The plastics in the Octavia were a lot better than in the Golf Mk5, I can see how the accountants have made some things cheaper.

The Octavia doesn't have the inclination sensor for the alarm system, no vanity lights for the sunvisors, no telescopic sunvisors, no gas struts for the bonnet, no ambient lighting.

But overall the octavia has a quality interior and is good value for what you get. I'm sure If I were to buy a VW estate with 170bhp it would be near £26k

A few people do a quick configurator on an Octy vRS, then in a new tab, do the same for an equivalent Golf, & you will find that the equivalent golf is around 5-6k dearer than the similar Octy

Hello Eddie and welcome along
