Michelin Alpin... transformed the 1.8 Tsi

Featured Replies

Well the promise of more rain and colder temps meant the winter wheels and tyres went on a bit earlier than I hoped for.

What a transformation over the 2 Turanza and 2 Dunlop fast responses fitted to my Octy 1.8 Tsi

First of all.... a hell of a lot quieter, the wet weather grip is astonishing!

I might leave them on all year round

Best £350 I have spent!

Glad they've made a difference.

If you do leave them on all-year round, just watch for excessive wear beyond 10deg. Plus steering feel and grip don't feel great at warmer temps.

There's better IMO but for cold weather grip they are very good - very nice ride and noise levels too. If you want the best wet weather grip then I'd recommend Uniroyal Rainsport 2's. :-)

To be honest, if my experience with Turanzas on a Mazda 3 was anything to go by, then they are the tyres which have been letting the side down.

Oh yes, the ER300 is a spectacularly mediocre tyre, from a tyre company you expect more from.

I've ran alpin for a year now on the furby. Didn't bother taking them of when it got warmer.

Wear wise they seem pretty good. Would say its anymore than summer tyres when used all year round.

That is the reply I was waiting for...

British summers (lol do me a favour) are getting wetter so we shall see what happens

I left my wife's winter tyres on her car all year, no more wear than normal tbh. Plenty of life left and will do her next winter as well probably.

It is a Hyundai i10 though lol :)

We have the Alpins on the works cars (rapid response ambulance ford focus estate) and they are good in the cold and wet. I'd take them off when it gets warm though, they don't like it if you're giving it some stick, braking will be worse in warm conditions too.
