Water Ingress

Featured Replies

Hi. Just pulled up outside my house and a load of water poured into the passenger footwell. Bit of an incline and I normally park down hill. But today I parked up hill. Snowing this morning too so quite a bit piled on the car. Didn't smell of anything so I suspect it's rain/mel****er. Any ideas where it came from? Ta.

The swear filter has been at that!

Does your Roomster have the radio aerial on the front of the roof? Had to have mine replaced under warranty in the early days because it leaked and caused the problem you have described. No problem since.

No. It's at the back. But just had roof rails fitted. Might ask Skoda.

But if the water came from your roof then water marks and stains would be on your roof lining or your lining should be dump. In Greece we had some Roomster and Fabia owners that had water ingress issues and most of them was from the top left corner of driver's panel (as watching from the outside of the car, English passenger door) or top right corner of door's (English driver's door) panel. It was from internal door's sealing rubber that was not attached too good to car's frame and right there in the A-pillar corner the water was getting in.

An other possibility is the internal door sealant right behind door's panel. That was a common fault in Fabia MK1 rear doors, including mine previous Fabia. Or even a broken windscreen seal.

I also was eye witness of a Fabia that became water pool (literally) because the water gutters - sinks - basins (or what ever their name is) placed at the top right and top left of engine bay, just under the bottom corners of the windscreen, were full of leaves that kept the water there causing a vast water ingress. Then I checked my previous Octavia MK1 water gutters, tried to clean them from above and also behind the front wheel arches' plastic cover and then almost two liters of water were freed.

Try to clean your gutters - basins - sinks or what ever they called. This makes sense to me since your car was parked facing uphill.
