Will my car sound any different?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, probably a silly topic to post but I'm to excited to get my car back and can't stop thinking about it,

Will it sound any different now that's its got a pd160 intake, Fmic and a hybrid? Already got a milltek decat on it :)

Check out this video on YouTube:

I should say some more throat, and some decent turbo hiss, in fact with decat alot of hiss

Cheers mate :)

i just did a cat hollowing, and the normal turbo on mine sounds way louder, who knows on a hybrid with that much extra air

Well I'm hoping for a bit more roar, and a slightly louder pidgin noise ;)

And the turbo whistle will be a bonus, I love the sound of it when you pass a wall quite closely and it echoes the sound of it

J.E

mine used to be like that, now i can hear my hiss, windows closed and no wall, but its a nice noise, louder version of what it was.

What do you mean by cat hollowing?

What do you mean by cat hollowing?

Taking the cat off and bashing it's innards out!

That way there is no messing about welding in a new section of pipe and it looks completely standard from the outside.

Much cheaper and very DIY-able also.

So does it have the exact same effect as a decat?

Yep. It removes the restriction completely as the cat is then just hollow.

the only possible downside might be an increase in noise due to it being hollow but probably not a great deal if any.

I have a decat at the moment but can't be bothered to change it for the mot. Might just do that and put the original on but absolutely muller the internals first!

Mine went through mot last feb no problems with a decat striaght through , and panel filter.

Could easily get an exhaust place to make you a de-cat pipe then weld a cat over the pipe so it looks as though there is one fitted. Thats what I'm getting done ;)

I'm pretty sure that if they pull you and question you all they can do is check with your insurance and request a test by a mot station, so if you declare it in your insurance and get a test with the mot centre you can't be touched ;)

Then might I suggest you try a V8 or V12 engined car

You dont need a cat on diesels for mot guys.

You dont need a cat on diesels for mot guys.

I know that but knowing my luck it will fail because its visually not there.

You actually don't need one on a diesel mate, go and check with your local mot centre just to put your mind at rest then cat away :)

J.E

do what i did, take the cat off, stand up a pinch bar place in outlet side of cat and smash it hollow. Cat visually there, 0 baffles

Doesnt have to be visually there either.
