Service kits

Featured Replies

Ok so for the first service in my motor since I've bought it I bought a kit from Tps £34 for a oil / fuel/ air but I see some kits on eBay for under 20 £ deliverd the question is would you use the cheaper service kits ? My car will be having oil every 10k miles minimum if not 6k as I get oil for free in work and its going to be a working car I'm also thinking of getting a replacement panel be it a k&n or piper cross (father runs a k&n in his sharan taxi) just so I can take it out and clean it often rather than a performance thing .

So what's people's views on non genuine / Tps service kits at 1/2 the price of Tps. I know with bikes I've always run hipro filters and there own quality just 1/4 the price just wonderd is it the same with fuel / oil filters on a car or am I better of just using the Tps stuff

Hmmm, I dont know...

I buy for my car only OEM things because I plan to keep my car for me for the rest of life.(if God permits).

I dont use him for work, and maybe that is reason why I buy just genuine parts.

For you I think is more economical to buy cheaper parts, but for car are better OEM parts, that for sure.

Personal choice, but I prefer to use an OEM oil filter and a better spec oil. Think it's okay to buy factored air/cabin/fuel filters - in my opinion - but oil and its filtration is important and where cheap could be false economy.

hey guys. Perfect Topic started for me as i am looking to do my own first service. Just want to make sure i don't miss anything out.

Superb Mk1, 1.9Tdi (02). Cambelt and water pump changed last year. 132,000 on the clock now, but 114,000 was on the clock at last service

Oil

VW507 will be used.

do people use Oil flushes?

Filters

Air Filter - changed last year

Cabin Filter - Changed Last Year

Fuel Filter - Changed Last year

is this all i need to change? If it is, is it all available in the kit mentioned in the first post?

(ps - last year they put in a "Forte Diesel Fuel Conditioner" - Do I need to do that again?)

Thanks

As to whether i can do all of these changes is another question! Should be ok, i'm generally ok with cars. As long as everything is easily accessible!!

Thanks

That is all you need to change.

It would be very good if you want to do(ofc)some kind of How to do regural service(with pictures and explonation) and post topic in Skoda Superb Owners/Skoda Superb Technical Guides

Cheers. I'm not looking forward to the pollen filter change! I suspect that's the "Cabin" filter, right? apparently i'ts a bi&ch to get to. Hopefully i'll be ok.

guys -Is Car Parts4Less connected to EuroCar Parts? The websites lookk suspiciously similar - apart from the prices!!

ps - panic! Just realised the last service, the 'specialist' garage only put Quantum Platinum in, not the Quantum LongLife!! I've just done 18,000 miles on normal 5w30 Fully Synth.

Luckily I'm going to change the oil this week, but is there likely to be any permanent damage? All seems ok, but am worried now.

The pollen filter is a doddle to change (it's the housing that's a bit more time consuming - for resealing it to the bulkhead).

I guess it's all according to what condition the oil's in. if it's like water or treacle with swarf coursing it's veins (unlikely if it's fully synthetic) then it won't be doing it any good, but having decent oil in there a bit too long shouldn't in itself cause damage, provided it's not degraded or contaminated. In my opinion.

Definitely fully synth, i dont doubt that, just not 507 spec. I should have been suspicious when he insisted on putting it on fixed service. Its a VAG specialist place, so im happy with being fully synthetic.

Thanks.

Ps, i will be changing the oil annually from now on anyway...
