I noticed a plastic box attached to the floor under the passenger side seat in my Citigo today with wires coming out of it, next to it the carpet has been roughly cut away and I can see a hole in the metal chasis like wires are supposed to go through it or something... seems to be some kind of after-fit item but I've got a standard build car. Anyone have any idea what this odd object may be?

It's supposed to be a voltage regulator intended for use in conjunction with the stop/start system to suppress voltage spikes. Quite crudely fitted.
