replace V-reg felicia thermostat housing (plastic) with alloy favorit one

Featured Replies

Well...after 120K miles this V-reg felicia's thermostat/housing (plastic) has broken.

I've read they're a bit fragile and wonder if the alloy one

off the favorit is compatible enough to do the job???

The problem is the sender for the temp gauge and (more importantly) the ECU - the Fav one has just an old-school common earth single one which won't do the job. If you can make the MPi one fit then you're in business - well doable but you'll need a bit of fabrication done to sort it.

What a great idea...thanks!

you can convert the alloy one, just use the alloy end with the 3 bolts thru it and the plastic housing the sender sits in, use the old type stat with 2 gaskets, 1 either side of the stat. I have done this several times and it works well as it keeps your 4 pin temp sender and never goes wrong again.

Just use the screws that held the plastic end on origionally and don't overtighten them.

Does the alloy housing use a screw in sensor? There must be an alternative one from another car that will fit, lots of fords and citroens use a screw in sensor which is 4 pin.
