Engine management light on...

Featured Replies

Hi..may neighbour has a 1.4 'Y' plate Fabia...and the engine management light is on, and yet no faults are found and it runs ok...when reset it comes back on after a short journey...

Any ideas? just trying to help him out...

Cheers

No ideas but might be worth asking in the Mk1 Fabia section..... :-)

Moved to Fabia 1. If the light is on there should be a code stored, it may be worth reading it with something else. Which engine is it?

Cheers guys...its a 1.4 16v i believe...and not sure what kit the garage was using to turn the light off....but they say no faults stored, which does seem a little odd...

One of the commonest causes of an engine light on the 16V is for an incorrect flow for the exhaust gas recirculation. The throttle body gets dirty and the pipe from the EGR valve to the inlet manifold becomes blocked with carbon, usually removing the throttle body and cleaning everything out helps, though to do the job properly involves adapting the throttle body and EGR valve with diagnostic equipment.

Do the brake lights work properly?

Is his temperature gauge working correctly? Is it taking much longer to get up to temp?.
