Cost of new DPF on 2007 PD Octavia VRS?

Featured Replies

Sorry - this is yet another tale of DPF woe but I've looked through the existing threads and can't find anything on costs for a new DPF.

How much should I expect a new DPF to cost at a Skoda dealer on a 2007 Octavia VRS? And could I get it done properly and cheaper elsewhere?

I know removal may be a better option so I don't particularly need the flood of responses telling me this - and I'm not sure how long this is going to remain a legal fix.

I had the DPF, engine management & glow plug lights all come on along with limp mode - a forced regen at the dealer supposedly fixed it on 5th Nov. A week later all the lights came on again and back into limp mode. I do a 45 mile commute mostly on M6 & M56 before the worst of the trafiic so plenty of speed and revs with country roads and city roads at either end of the journey

Today the dealer is quoting £2000+ for a new DPF. The wife took the message and was too shocked to properly hear everything they said after £2000 and she thinks it might include something else.

I've had two sets of fuel injectors provided free by Skoda (firstly after they failed and then as part of the recall). I've also spent nearly £2000 on new flywheel (they did the clutch at the same time). 85000 miles on the clock.

The car was sold with the usual sales banter about how reliable these cars are but in the three years I've had it I have probably spent almost as much keeping it going as I spent buying it in the first place (admittedly my high mileage means that I have 2 services a year and a set of tyres every 10 months or so but these are understandable wear and tear costs ). More importantly I have lost faith in it - and I need to be able to rely on it for the daily commute. I'd ask them how much they'd give me for a trade in but I bet it is less than £500!

Take a trip to Shark, Mansfield, remove DPF, remap to suit, £499 isn, transforms the car.

The End

Yes, I know that but my question was:

I know BMW was charging £1500 to do a 530d so £2k on a Skoda seems a lot.

Does a 2007 have a DPF ???

2007 should have a DPF. 2k does sound step; I enquired about one before I went down the DPF removal route and was quoted £1300 fitted.

As Auric says.

You won't need to worry about this again :)

Get a good Indie like shark to take a look first. Many DPF problems are down to faulty sensors.

The removal option would be your best bet. Shark only remove the innards so it looks as standard. Quite a few people on the forum have had theirs removed, even with stage 1 and 2 remaps, and have have passed MOT's

There are 3 or 4 that it could be depending on VIN/part number that's currently fitted and price is £1242.17+VAT without labour and diagnostics/setup/recalibration etc.

Our Stage 0 DPF removal is £449 inc VAT. DPF gone forever, no more problems, no more limp mode.

Possibly looking to get my 56 plate dpf removed anyone know of good place on southcoast i am on Isle of Wight must be someone in Hampshire that have good reviews ????

No one has a crystal ball, but my guess is probably forever, at least in respect of cars currently in use. Even now there is no law which says brand new diesel cars have to have a DPF fitted from the factory, they simply have to meet an emissions standard. Hence the reason the government stopped short of including diesel cats and DPFs in the recent MOT changes. Plus I can't see the government having any desire to revamp the MOT again for a good few years yet after the fiasco of the recent changes.

The situation with petrols is quite different, as they do have to be fitted with a cat from new by law, even if they could pass emissions regs without one.
