Rubbish Audio

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone else find that the Audio from the standard stereo in the Fabia vRS mk 1 is horrible? I had a 1.6 Astra SXI before this and the speakers had a lot more bass.

I currently have a car on Loan from Skoda, the new Fabia 1.2 TSI and the audio is around x10 better than mine...

My question is what is rubbish, the speakers or the standard stereo? I am going to have to do something to upgrade them as I like music when I am driving!

Hi mate, i've out a Sony explod stereo in mine with 52 or 54 watts per channel and the speakers sound brilliant, i've got a small sub in mine though to add some bass but with the sub off the Sony does make a noticeable difference :)

How many speakers does the vRS come with?

I assume it will be a very speaker setup as my car.

If it is then ours is pretty good with good bass and the tweeters help with the higher sounds.

I have a pioneer avh-2400 bt in mine and the sound is great!

Obviously you can't expect the sound of an expensive sub etc. But i was amazed at the difference a decent EQ made to the sound of mine :)

What should i upgrade then? The Speakers or the stereo? :)

I've found all VAG cars to have decent speakers, but being driven by rubbish head units!

Swapped the stock HU's out for a Pioneer thing in all of mine and it's made a huuuuuuge difference!

Both can work. Have a play with the standard h/u. Though the EQ is basically down to treble, bass, fader, balance and loudness.

I still have the OEM h/u but more through inaction than anything else.

The doors are solid compared to many. OEM woofers are 5" but the aperture will take 6", 6.5".

Have a search as to what's required to replace the speakers.

Far better results can be had by replacing h/u, adding an amp and running a 2 way component set in the front doors. Budget of around £300 I reckon.

How many speakers do you have in your car?

I will have a look tonight and count how many speakers and tweeters I have - Maybe some have been removed or replaced.

I think the vRS got the same kind of system fitted to the Polo and Ibiza and so should have a total of 8 speakers/tweeters (4 speakers and 4 tweeters). That's what ours has anyway.

Do you have one at each side of the parcel shelves?

Do you have two at each side of the parcel shelves?

No I think on all the models there is a speaker in the bottom of each door then a tweeter next to each door handle.

A quick google may also suggest that the tweeters are here on the fabia in the front. Think this is also where mine are:

And here is a rear one with the door handle:

1 at the bottom of each front doors also a tweeter in the corner of the door, a tweeter in each rear door by the handle and one each side of the parcel shelf

VRS definitely has 8 speakers.

The symphony headunit has widely been discussed to be crap with the standard speakers being pretty good if driven with a decent headunit.

There are a few of us who have wanted to keep the OEM look and have pre-outs from the Symphony h/u running to an amp and doing it that way - but replacing the h/u straight is much simpler.

I will check and keep you updated.

What Stereo would you recommend? :)

As before.......standard HU only adjusts 2 points with fixed setpoints and curves....so c4rp!!!.

Fit Pioneer...........with a good list of adjustable setpoints, curves, slopes etc.....Budget about £160 with usb port for mem sticks

Also you will need the little top cover facia strip.....all info on this and wiring in my long post...here...

My biggest and only complaint with the Fabia VRS, is the quality of sound.

I will up grade the head unit, although I prefer the OEM look.
