HTC One X compatibility with Columbus?

Featured Replies

Hi - have just collected our Skoda Superb late 2008 model with Columbus Sat Nav and setting everything up but having problems with the phone - the system finds my HTC One X but says it is not compatible - has anyone got any solutions please on how to sort this (apart from getting a new phone!)

You could try searching from the phone too. But its possible you have one of the older Bluetooth units which requires the phone to be an rSap type that let's the car act on the sim card as if it is the phone and yr handset may not be that type. There's quite a few posts on here about that.

If the bt unit was factory fitted it will be under drivers seat I believe and you could look at the part number and compare it to the ones available now. It's a relatively straightforward change to a newer unit if it needs to be changed and the newer ones are not too dear. I paid £80 delivered for mine 6 months ago.

Hope that helps

Adam

as above. if you get a newer bt module it will work, as i have one x and it works perfect, but in hfp mode.

Thanks for all the advice - looks like the new bluetooth unit is the best option for hfp mode - I did look at downloading the rsap app on the android phone but I need to reroot the phone as well and am not too confident in doing this plus if I change the phone in a year's time I will be left with the same problem with the bt unit not recognising the newer phones.

One last question - is the new bt unit something that Skoda need to do for me or can I just buy one and fit myself - sorry am not a techie.

Thanks Bill2 - so if I'm reading this right - I can buy a kit from eBay such as item no 180710984863 for £60 and just replace the part under the driver's seat with this new part and it will update the bluetooth to the correct format to match with my phone?

change it to a 5N0 035 730 D or a 3C8 035 730 A, and you will have rSAP and Hands Free - but you will also get Bluetooth Audio Streaming, Texting via Touch Screen in rSAP mode, and Full Phone book in both rSAP and HFP.

yes you must have one of these model numbers as above then any phone will work with your car.

its not a kit all you are buying is the modul you dont need any more.

Thanks - just checked under the seat and we currently have 3C8 035 720 - so just need the 'A' wiring kit as per the eBay item number I quoted earlier and we are set for the phone to match with hfp mode ..... yes? Sorry for all the questions, just don't want to get it wrong!

andy what does your box have as the last letter after the numbers

Hi Bill - picture of the box attached - no letter as far as I can see.

Ah, just realised I put a type in my earlier post - unit model number is 3C8 035 730, not 720.

I suspect yrs is an A revision and that's why there is no letter. Maybe they didn't expect a 'b' or 'c' at the time of manufacture!! I think the c units in that series gives hfP functionality. And not sure where you are but if its anywhere near me, Newport, South Wales, you are welcome to try mine as a test. Mine is a d revision of the 5k0 035 730 series, which also works with hfp.

Hi Adam, thanks for your response - I've actually found a novel way round the problem which doesn't involve money and I might even make a bit! My wife is due a phone upgrade but doesn't actually need the phone so she is getting a Samsung Galaxy S3 (which I know works with my new car as my son has tested his in it) ..... the wife is kindly giving the new Samsung to me and I will sell my lovely HTC One X (which is a cracking phone, just no good with this unit). So problem solved. Thanks to all who have given their advice, really appreciate the time people take on these forums to help others.

Result!! No prob
