Clutch slip.

Featured Replies

Hi, and thank you for taking time to read and perhaps advise.

My VRS has been modified, and is putting out 262bhp.

I believe the clutch is starting to slip. Would I be right in thinking that the higher the gear, say 4th at 25mph, the more prone it would be to slipping?

I do intend on modifying car further, to include high pressure fuel pump and Audi S3 intercooler, which I believe classifies as stage 2+. I thought it was going to be then that the clutch would need replacement.

Any ideas on how much I should budget for a performance clutch?!

Cheers!

depends on what your after for me i'm looking at this

Stage 2 Daily Driver, £925 then another £120+ for fitting not sure how long fitting takes right enough.

I've driven my mates 2011 Leon Cupra R slight rattle due to the SMF but nothing noisy and its feels nice and light like OEM he's putting 360hp and 350ftlb of torque through it

Hi Grizzle!

Thank you for that!

I didn't realise I would be looking at changing the flywheel too, but I guess it's going to make sense in the long run.

I suppose I was being a bit starry eyed-putting lots of thought into the 'go-faster' bits, but neglecting the 'boring' bits that deliver the power to the tarmac!

I guess it puts a replacement fuel pump further down the line, but if its worth having!!......

I put a Sachs performance clutch on mine. Cost about £800 from JKM if I remember rightly.

You're right about the gear, as soon as I went stage 2, mine started to slip in 5th and 6th from low revs due to the huge amount of torque. The Sachs sorted the issue and other than being a little heavier, I got used to it within a few miles. No problems accelerating in any gear now.

Nobafett!

Thanks for your advice!

JCM is where I'll be headed then, just hope I can last for a few months-which as I don't do too many miles it shouldn't be a problem!
