Reversing switch on 1.2 12V.

Featured Replies

The reversing lights are no longer working on the missus' Furby, and having checked (and replaced to be sure) both the bulbs and fuse with no improvement, all I can think is left is the switch.

As my repair time is limited, I was tempted to simply buy a new switch and fit it rather than spend weeks diagnosing.

Does anyone know if the switch is common across the range or if the one on the 1.2 12V is different, as a quick search on Ebay hasn't highlighted a switch specifically for this model (or perhaps I'm not looking hard enough)

One thing to check first, put on front wipers and engage reverse gear. If the rear wiper takes a sweep, the reverse switch is working.

Apparently it is somewhat common for the wiring/plug itself to become damaged.

I need to do this too. I think the switch goes into the gearbox not the engine, so I would think if the gearbox is the same the plug would be the same. On the Euro car parts website I put my reg number in and for my 2003 SDI it gives part number 465440140

Perhaps if you put your car in you could see if you get the same number.

Don't be scared to call your dealer, I have bought parts cheaper than ebay recently from the dealer, and you know it will be the right part.

Ended up ordering one from gsf on Ebay (8.50 delivered) after giving them my reg no.

Dealer is as you say often cheaper, but due to location, opening times and my working hours it's a pain to get to, and I wouldn't phone for part number when planning to order elsewhere. Getting gsf to drop it through my postbox is far more convenient

I tried to order, among other things, a reverse switch from a dealer. Price came up as over £30 so decided to leave it and got one off ebay for under £10. Even better it was a genuine one.

It doesn't so it isn't! Excellent, thanks!
