Featured Replies

I've had the Vrs for sale for a while now. Only 1 person has come and looked & I've had text offers in the region of £1000!!!!! I want £3600 for mine - too much???

offers of £1000????!!! I would have exploded if someone had offered me that.

What mileage.. service history... mods etc have you got?

Here's the info on the car - TH's are sold so on its std rims now with 4 good matching tyres.

Ok some history. Bought almost 4 years ago now, everything it's ever need its had done, it's got all the right parts on it (see list) along with a few unique items.

Ok so some details of the spec:-

Chassis

Well you can't miss the wheels - super rare comp TH's in 8x17. They are so difficult to do that they won't make any more. 205/40/17 toyo t1r.

Seat console bushes & poly flex arb bushes

312mm octavia VRS brakes on the front

Front upper strut brace, rear upper strut bar

Brand new AP coil overs - fitted last mot (only done 1800 miles since)

Tuning

air inlet pipe removed to std airbox with Jetex panel

EGR disabled (cel light is on the dash because of this - can be reconnected and the light goes right out)

Brand new stainless custom exhaust with std style tail pipe (£400+ 3 months ago)

Remapped by angel - shown with 186bhp & 333lb/ft torque

Jabbasport 6kg single mass flywheel conversion with Sachs sports clutch (£900+)

Interior

Recently replaced with a set of later spec front and rear seat out of a 2007 48k miles vrs. So it now has 3x3 point belts in the back. (However one p/s bolster seem has split & there is a small nick out of the drivers seat in an odd place)

Door panels all sealed - no leaks!

Ice

Pioneer doubledin with iPod/USB connector & Bluetooth hands free setup - 12" kicker competition sub & amp (but takes up half the boot!)

Bodywork

All std - wind deflectors x4, mudguards x4. Fog lights run led sidelights along with and almost running indicator LEDs too.

Ok a few extra pieces of information:-

Mileage is 107k with almost a full service history (skoda & a local garage inc print ours of work done and receipts of parts bought) the bodywork is fine for its age, a few marks in the paint - scratches, stonechips. But a few years back it had a coming together with a deer, but the repair work was done correctly with skoda parts (other than depo black headlights) inc a full new front panel.

It's recently had a new heater flap motor and heater dials in the dash as it kept going hot all the time. Since then it's running fine - the a/c doesn't work. Could be something to do with the above incident - but never really bothered me (think its probably the a/c rad)

I dont understand that! Only thing i can think of is people are put off by your chatter but if there looking at the car they should expect it!!

Seems to be plenty of negatives reading through that, i understand your being honest but not every niggle needs to be mentiond.

Things like the egr delete and fault lights on dash, just plug the egr back in and dont mention the light on the dash....

Post a link to the advert please.

I got back 83% of the purchase price of my car after 3 and a half

years of ownership, not bloody bad really.

Adding the money I got from selling parts

stripped from the car put me comfortably over my original purchase

price and I still have some stuff left to sell.

Perhaps that's the way forward?

I'm still out of pocket overall bearing in mind what I spent on the car

but am happy with how it all panned out.

Also your location being so far away is probably not helping you get much

interest. The guy who bought mine would have had yours rather than

mine if you had been closer to him, he told me that himself.

Keep trying mate, xmas round the corner is probably also a factor.

For what it's worth, I've always liked your car. :)

Sell the wheels separately :p

That (IMO) is the full opposite of what I`d be wanting from a seller. Imagine going to look at a car to find a EML light on, its not an issue to us because we know why, but I to a potential buyer thats enough to make them walk away.

We know you (to an extent) and the car, we know it`s looked after and has all the nice bits on it, all done properly. The problem is, because its modded it will wipe out 75% of your potential buyers straight away. The rest will be half and half depending on how you are and how the car is. The advert is spot on, the price is good, the car is great. Its just a waiting game, and a long process of telling the chancers to do one with their insulting offers. Eventually the right person will come along, just have to hold out, or put it back to standard.

Just my 2p`s worth!

The stock ones? So its sitting on bricks? Or the ones that are sold? :bandit::giggle:

Ah ****, that will teach me to read everything lol.

I'm going to bring a slightly different view. Sorry if it seems a bit hard, but here goes anyway.

1) All the mods wipe out 90% of potential buyers.

2) It's a 9 year old warm hatch. Worth less than 4k. At this kind of price, people want to know how long the mot is, what the service history is and whether the cambelt needs doing any time soon.

3) Warning lights. Unknown bill to the average punter.

4) No air con. Unknown bill.

With all the above in mind, be honest, £3600, really? Bear in mind the old supply / demand, and there ain't that much demand for modified cars in today's world.

2007 / 70k miles / standard is booked around £4,500.

I bought mine 2 weeks ago 06 plate 119k miles £2800. Service history,taxed,mot'd, recipets and a warranty.

Something for you to think about.

Hahahahaa £1000 fookin mugs nice motor there

Know how you feel when I was selling my VFR400 around a year ago I had it up for £1800 which was a good price! Had a text offering me £800 second offer was £1000. Some people are absolute tryers, I would find such offer for your car an actual offence!

Agreed £3600 might be pushing it I paid £2500 for mine..

But I think you'll agree £1000 offers a joke

I had my first scooby many many moons ago about 10 years for sale for £4500 baring in mind standards were going for near this and the Ammont of Pakistani blokes from Bradford Manchester etc ringing me with totally insulting bids of £1500/2000

It's a gud job they do it over the phone and not in person :) :)

Ok so I should just change the advert then to include the fact there is a new MOT on it - no advisory's - 6 months tax. Timing belt and water pump are upto date. Dont mention the a/c. The CEL light is now off

And hold out for someone to make an offer that i'm happy with.

I'm **** at selling cars!

Mods will always scare people off, they see the list and think it's been thrashed within an inch of its life but in reality has probably seen more care and attention than most. You'll either have to hold out hoping that an enthusiast will pop up knowing what the score is or make it as standard as possible.

The trouble is not many potential buyers will think that a modded diesel skoda hatchback is the norm so freak out. Your market is probably someone who wants a bit of fun but with economy and vag quality (yeah, yeah :giggle: ) So we're talking boggo standard. We bought ours a month ago. 56 plate, 92k, 1 owner, fsh and all belts mot done for £3900.

Strip it back and then cash in all the shiny bits on here, It's a ball ache but in the long run the only sure way to get your money back.
