Front headlamp bulb out - Is this the time to change to better bulbs ?

Featured Replies

Little warning buzzer came on today and i have noticed that my front passenger side headlamp bulb is out..... first off, just how easy it is to change this ? And second is this the time to change them and if so what too. Thanks.

Dunno how "getatable" Furbie headlights are, but yes it's the ideal time to fit uprated bulbs. I'd go to www.powerbulbs.co.uk then you just have to select make and model, and it'll give you a range of options. Unless you feel like paying twice what anything else costs to get Piaa bulbs, Osram are probably the best.

IIRC they are quite easy to get at.

+1 for the Osram night breaker plus (make sure they are the plus version as previous type don't last very long)

what he said above, I got nightbreaker plus for £12.59 from euro car parts with 30% discounf

How did you get 30% discount please? :)

Yep how did you get the discount

Ah, on the ECP site, midmonth30 offer is on certain parts automatically :)

This might help with changing: http://elsaweb.spaghetticoder.org/doc/C.en-GB.S00.5304.00/32683912/3

Or failing that - read the manual

I have Nightbreaker Plus in at the minute (main beam) and have suffered no issues, the previous versions were pretty poor from a reliability POV. Freedom members also get a discount at Powerbulbs and ECP, although have a scout round Amazon (http://go.redirectin...splay.php?f=184) - £11 isn';t bad at all.

Had the night breaker plus for about 6 months no issues, but didn't think they where bright/white enough so swapped them for 6k h7r hids from hids-direct

Discount code was '30NOW' when I ordered, last week. Not sure if it still applies at present.

The manual has some pretty detailed pictures - page 190 onwards in the downloadable version. However access isn't nearly as easy as those pictures suggest.

The passenger side is not as easy as the drivers side owing to the battery. If you haven't done one before it might be useful to take the drivers side one out first and put it back in so you understand precisely how things fit together. Then do the passenger side.

Be careful releasing the clips on the plastic backing covers - I broke on on mine and had to put a screw back in - curiously there was already-made hole for one - to retain it.

Make sure the bulb is seated correctly before replacing the spring clip - my offside one was incorrect on delivery!

Do you need any special fitting kit or are these plug n play?

osram or phillips.........both do top end bulbs...100% brighter...........both are consistantly the best in tests.............i've used both brands as well

Most of the high-performance bulbs are just straight replacements - so no problems in fitting. Stick with legal wattages though...

Philips xtreme's are double the price of the osrams.

Order placed with Amazon (ECP all out of stock near me). Will keep you posted etc...
