skoda fabia water leak

Featured Replies

Hello i`ve got a 2001 skoda fabia 1.9 tdi and its leaking water inside :rain: through the o/s/r door i think around the window regulator. Is this common the previous owner put a new one in. or is there some where else they leak? i was going to try and seal it with a hot glue gun.

yep, common problem, need to take off the door card, then the window regulator, although that's not always neccessary. Depending on age, it's held on with rivets or 10mm bolts. If it's rivets, you'll need to get them from Skoda (part# N91078801). You can then access the seal. Remove that and then go around where it was with some silicone sealent. A good guide can be found here

cheers thanks for the quick reply i thought this was the problem i did try with bathroom sealant but no luck. have a look at my other post see if you can help on them.

As a quick fix, worth trying afixing plastic "curtains" to the door bins so that they fold under the door seal when shut. As a stop gap does quite a lot of good. (stop gap - LOL, 3 years +...)

It's so common, you wouldn't believe it!

Virtually all Fabia's suffer this at some point. There's loads of info on the forum, but in a nutshell:-

1. Forget hot glue. Google "plumbers gold" and buy some. It's one of the few sealants that cure when exposed to water.

2. Get the door card off (you could also buy in some door card clips as you may break some....but this is optional)

3. Use the sealant to seal around the lower part of the inner door carrier....a nice thick bead smoothed with a wet finger/spatula.

Job done!
