My dad uses something similar for his front screen and last year it left scratches on his A pillar - it all depends how tight it can be (the tighter the better)

Has to be possible to fab up something slightly more stylish, surely. Though it'd have to be rather secure. I wouldn't want anything hard or substantial coming loose at speed.
