Skoda - should I go for a budget brand?

Featured Replies

My PCP contract on my current petrol VRS hatch finishes early next year.

I have decided after years of resistance to go for a diesel. I have been pleased with the current and my previous Skoda Octavia and the obvious choice is to go for another Skoda.

My problem is that on personal contract hire, which is my preferred method for my next vehicle the Skoda is fairly expensive at £480.00 per month 3 plus 36 payments including vat, however I can get a Mercedes C250 AMG Sport either saloon or coupe for over £120.00 per month cheaper.

The question is do I stick with Skoda or do I take the risk and opt with the 'budget brand' ie Mercedes which I know is more prone to break down, has even worse main dealers and probably doesn't handle as well?

Decisions, decisions!

Am I missing the point here (It wouldn't be the first time!) but by the time your PCP ends will there be any MkII vRS's available anyway and who knows when the MKIII vRS's will come on stream. My mate drives a c class..... He's 72 and it's absolutely crap in the snow and ice. inside it looks like an old blokes car too. What's the C250 like inside?

Your PCP, your choice I guess. best of luck.

But it's not out of the OP price range. In fact it works out less money so I don't really understand your post.

My post was a tongue in cheek comment on the attitude of certain Skoda owners who are convinced that they are in the same league as Bugatti drivers because its in the VAG group as well as their Fabia.

I said out of MY price range.

And my point was that as a Skoda "lover" I'm not under the impression they are the best car in the world.

Either way I'm out of food for today
