Engine change after 300 miles!

Featured Replies

I was told by škoda that just the need for a new engine was enough to reject the car. I was willing to accept a new engine and carry on with the car. However due plenty more issues i rejected the car as it just was not trustworthy and was not practical for me to be taking to the dealership. The sales of goods act needs to be researched and i believe it is part 2 section 14 which states what the OP needs. As the car is not of satisfactory quality as it needs a new engine.

Hi folks just thought i'd let you all know that after an amicable face-to-face talk with the sales manager yesterday they have agreed to accept my formal rejection of the vehicle and will now get the ball rolling with skoda regarding securing a replacement car. As said in previous posts there seem to be plenty of SE connects in group stock so it shouldn't be a problem with regards to matching the spec of the rejected car.

I'm so happy and relieved to have the dealer on-side regarding this. I was expecting a long drawn out fight given the circumstances, however, they couldn't have been more understanding and willing to help keep a customer happy. The sales manager admitted that he too would have the same concerns as myself regarding accepting this vehicle given the problems i experienced in its' first week on the road. He did however say that if this problem had of came to light after a few thousand miles rather than a couple of hundred he would have backed Skoda's stance regarding engine replacement.

Assuming they can cut through all relevant red tape etc with Skoda i should have a new car in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile i can cruise round in the Octavia estate courtesy car.

Thanks for all your advice and comments. I feel that a weight has been potentially lifted off my shoulders however i won't celebrate until i'm sitting in that new car

Good to hear you have it resolved.

Who was the dealer? It would be good to name and praise a dealer instead of naming and shaming one.

Great news. Good on the dealer

That is good news, and yes I think we would all like to know which dealer it is, a good cooperative dealer is worth shouting about and too many of them go unnoticed.

Well done for sticking to your guns.

The dealer is MSB Skoda in Darlington. Service has been first class all the way!

Well done MSB Darlo

This is really excellent news. Let us know how you get on as this will set the benchmark for other dealers in similar circumstances and will provide valuable evidence for anyone as unfortunte as yourself who isn't getting this level of service from their dealer

A few years ago I had a brand new Kia Picanto put a con-rod through the engine block on the drive home from buying it !! Kia dealer fitted a brand new engine under warranty, lots of apologies etc. When they're that new its a manufacturing defect and bad luck. The car went on to give faultless service for 80,000 miles until I traded it. Obviously your getting a different car now which is great, Thumbs up for the dealer  Of course some unsuspecting punter will be buying your broken one once its fixed.....
