Arch liners

Featured Replies

Has anybody on here, or does anyone know of anybody running a fairly low vRS and have removed the arch liners due to slight catching on them when turing corners or due to having people in the back and they catch when accelerating when driving anything other than granny speeds.

Any issues with not running any arch liners at all?

i had mine slammed in summer and only caught the arch liners on the front when on full lock,. . the backs i had no trouble with even running 8.5j wheels. .

i dunno if fabia is same, but my mates mk5 golf is low and caught alot,so what they do on the front is take the middle/top screw out of the arch liner, put it behind the metal tab what the screw goes into, and fold it back. . it gives just that lil bit more clearence.

as for the backs i have no clue on a solution.

you could run without n just make sure to rinse All the crap out of the inner arch regularly. .

haha martins is stupidly low not surprised he needs to do Summat with em.

another silly answer could be wait for ur tires to wear themselves some room to play haha

What wheels/spacers etc you running anyway southy?

The car I've bought is running Audi TT wheels, so I assume only 7.5 wide? No spacers on the car running a 205/40/17 tyres. The front's catch slightly on full lock which isn't a major issue but had 2 people sat in the back earlier and with even the smallest of pressure on the accelerator you could hear it rubbing as the back end sat down. I can feel that one arch liner has already rubber through slightly on the tyre(checked it when I first bought the car).

It has the rear cups removed and I don't have them to replace them to lift the back end up slightly, so may have to buy new ones if I can't find a proper solution.

I don't mind giving the car a good clean out under the arches infact I did my last one fairly often, removed the liners and cleaned up them and refitted them.

That's how it sits so not really silly low, infact I think the front is higher than my old one running 16's

Very stealth :) . You sure its the arch liners on the rear not the arch lip itself? Could need rolling, had this issue on a few of my old cars.

Tyres are too big m8 thats y its catching... get sum 195/40 tyres on n ull be fine.. be able to drop it lower aswell ;)

Ahh crap if only I knew earlier as just had to ordered 2 new tyres (managed to get a bolt through one on the way home after buying the car aswell as my dad having a puncture on his car too whilst driving me down to view)

It sure is, think I may go for silver wheels to add some colour/contrast to the car next year and save these as winters. Yeah defiantly the liners themselves as you cam tell from the sound of it

Yup you should have no issues with 7.5j wheels

I ran 8.5j wheels on the back no problem and it was slam dunked

I can see why he was running 205's on the car now, just had a look for tyres in 195 profile and there isn't a lot of options available really and those that there is are around £15-£20 per tyre more.....

As and when I make the change over to 8J wide wheels will I still have to run 195's or will the wider rim help?

U shud be ok with 205s on 8's... its only the front that u will need 195s on the 7.5"...

Alot of people on here run 205/40s on 7.5s but they dont go low low... 205/40 is a really common tyre size so really cheap + alot of diff tyres available..

Im running 195/40s on my rears + 185/35s on my front ;).. wouldnt recommend 185/35s tho because they make the ride hard as #@$# + u can only get nankangs this size :D... if its looks ur after tho they look loads better + u can drop it right down :)

Im not after dropping it right down I work in an area where either way I have to go over speedbumps haha.

Ah right that be okay then as Im after a new set of wheels in the new year

Run 205/40's on both!

You have issues if those wheels are rubbing at that height!
