Optional elegance leather seats

Featured Replies

Hi,

Did Skoda offer leather seats as an option on the elegance spec?

If so, does anyone know where I get hold of some front leather seats?

Best wishes

John

Not as far as I know

Don't think so, but I see that the Dutch L&K Fabia has heated leather seats, so they may exist! Alternatively, you may be able to buy the heating mats and controls from Skoda and approach a separate company to retrim your seats in leather? There have been a few threads on here about them and I believe Bryand has heated leather seats now :D

I have seen Bryan's leather seats and they are amazing.

Unfortunately, I can't afford this so I wondered whether I could get some from a dismanlter or ebay 2nd hand.

Thks

John

Its an option im sure i've seen it in the options list on the fabia pricelist booklet

It certainly wasn't an option in October 2004 when I bought my vRS - the dealer knew SOME Fabia's were fitted with leather seats and contacted Skoda UK to see if he could get covers as spare parts to upgrade the vRS's seats. He couldn't.

They are available in other places in Europe as has been noted above.

Retrimming isn't an absurdly expensive option should you want to go through with it, and it allows you full customisation in what the end result turns out like.

The heated seat elements are built into the seats so you can't get them from Skoda without swapping the seats.

In theory you could get aftermarket ones and possibly use the Skoda controllers but it would be experiental - some seat heaters only operate "on" and "off" such as the ones in my previous car (which were however thermosstatic - another complication).

The company that retrimmed my seats couldn't source aftermarket ones themselves so I decided not to bother. I've noticed no problems through the winter so would suggest it's not really necessary.

The heating elements are mats which are fitted over the cushions and held in place by the same mechanism that holds the seat covers on. You would need back and seat elements, the wiring loom and the dash controls, so it wouldn't be a trivial job.

I've not used the heaters much since I had mine retrimmed - the foam lining to the leather seat covers means that the heat takes a while to come through anyway.

So leather seats and no heaters would be a good choice.

I think John's best option would be to try to find a pair of vRS seats in a scrappie - I really noticed how flat his TDI seats were compared to my vRS buckets.

Bryan,

I did make contact with a scrappie who wanted

They are mats laid under the seat covers and are not part of the seats! See http://www.briskoda.net/gallery/sho...500&userid=2737 for pics (courtesy of Bryand ;))

Apologies - thank you both for publishing a correction - though looking at the picture linked to above they still to me look like part of the seat - or is the WHOLE image the "pad" noted?

I was quoting from memory from a previous thread that probably linked to that picture. I'm sure the dealer advised me the elements couldn't be obtained as spares either without buying the seats.

Accordingly if you do get vRS seats from a scrapyard, you'd still need to find one that had heated seats fitted - or go aftermarket.

Certainly aftermarket heater pads are JUST the heated sections...
