00290 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Left (G46)

003 - Mechanical Failure - Intermittent

Theres a sensor in each wheel looks like your rear left has failed just needs a new one.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks

So do we think it's just a sensor and nothing more serious like the ring in the hub

I have replaced the sensor which was easy enough. Then reset abs deleted faults. Only for them to re appear.

Any ideas? Could it be the hub

Bump

Check the wiring IMHO.

I think wiring is okay as it's picking up a signal but it seems to be around 30kmh than all the other sensors. So the signal is wrong.

I did use a very small amount of copper grease as sensor was tight going in and I'm wondering if it's that causing the signal to be reading higher.

Vcds log shows at say 15kmh the sensor i replaced thinks that wheel is travelling at 30kmh

I don't know if it adjusts on the Octavia but if it does you have the sensor too close to the reluctor ring or the ring is dirty or damaged.

I believe it only goes straight in as there's a bolt to tighten sensor. I will take another look tomorrow and see if removing/cleaning sensor and ring sorts out issue. Good thing is its registering a signal its just that the signal is wrong/high

Bump any one got any idea? I'm going to try genuine abs sensor as i can clean that up and take it back if that doesn't solve issue. Next step is wheel hub as the ABS ring is built in. However this costs £150 + labour
