What is the difference between the TDI: ASZ and BLT engine ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Could any one tell me the difference between these two engine's ? Which one is seen as best on 1.9 vRS TDi ?

Try the search function, lots of these threads about! :-)

I can not find a link related to this topic !

different turbo, ect,

asz has seperate egr and anti shudder valve, blt i believe is combine or no asv

blt can't map out eml if you egr delete it, just have to have it mapped to minimum acceptable egr rates not to light the eml

and several other differences

and i believe the asz engine has very slightly more power as stock thn the blt

I thought there was a thread about this the other day and used the search function believe it or not and found said thread and lord behold who was the author of the thread....the same as this one :S

No need to start two threads asking the same question.

BLT has more power as stock, normally around the 150bhp mark.

BLT also has the Anti Shudder Valve which makes an EGR delete difficult and it also throws up the engine mgmt light. The light can be removed when you get the car remapped though.

As for the ASZ engine an EGR delete is a simple and cheap process!

Other small things I'm not to sure of. I think the ASZ cars also have a longer gearbox.

Nope, the blt has the more power, some have seen up to 150 bhp off a standard car!

Not much, EGR setup as already said. The turbo is the same either way, just the manifold is different iirc. Only early cars had longer gearboxes but has nothing to do with when the engine changed. I wouldnt buy a car specifically down to the engine, just find a decent car with lots of history in your budget.

what years the the engines switch over?

Basically what would be my 07 VRS SE be? Thanks

BLT. Someone correct me if I am wrong!

The change over was around 55. I have a 55 plate and in led to believe its one of the first of the BLT range.

They are quoted as being 130bhp by Skoda but most that have been dyno'd always read around 145-150bhp odd.

Not to mention a battery cover........... :bandit:

Is there any difference in the gear boxes

Was there a slight change to the Fabia when BLT's were introduced? Different rear lights, gearbox and rear door pins or did that come earlier?
