What is the difference between the TDI: ASZ and BLT engine ?

So Basically

The ASZ is the earlier Euro 3 compliant engine and does not suffer from a stutter caused by the EGR

.....and the BLT is a nice tasty sandwich!

One day I'll write up a chronological series of changes which were made - which were largely all incremental and discrete. Even the late 2004 facelift changes weren't all made at the same time - my car didn't have the revised dashboard. And we've recently learned that the battery change was after the BLT engine was introduced.
