Hi, I recently had a new differential pressure sensor fitted to my 08 2.0L VRS. From reading on here, I now see that the new sensor should be adapted before the car is started - this was not done unfortunately. Is this sensor now for the bin? Can it be reset in any way, or adapted to another car ecu? My car still wont regenerate as the same fault is present and wont clear so i assume i need a new sensor and have it fitted properly! Can anyone advise?

Isn't adaption simply calibrating the car ECU to match the sensor output? I can't see any need for another new sensor.

Give it a go, see what happens.

Workshop instruction though is to calibrate the new sensor before starting, ive never managed to calibrate a sensor that has been run.

It has been calibrated now, but just gives the same readings as the previous faulty sensor, and the fault wont clear from the ecu.

Has required that in my experiance yes.

If you check the value block for the sensor it probably wont be reading 0

when the car is just taking over, 1 reading is around 64 from memory, and fluctuates if the engine is reved up. The other reading stays at 0 all the time

No, both rubber pipes from DPF to sensor also replaced, DPF removed and cleaned/checked. All other sensors also removed and cleaned/checked.

Can you blow down these hoses? Any blockage would be right down at the exhaust.

Yes you can blow down both hoses.

Does anyone know if the new sensor I fitted without proper calibration could be successfully calibrated to a different ecu? Or is it for the bin?

Update - fitted new pressure sensor and adaption carried out before engine started. Differential Pressure Sensor Faults were cleared...but...came straight back! Sensor block is reading -3 (reads 0 when faults cleared, then goes back to -3 again when fault returns) and particle filter excess soot still showing with car in limp mode. It wont force regen either. Anyone any suggestions??

Sounds like whilst you've had the unadapted sensor in your DPF has filled up to the point of no return. You may now require a new DPF.

DPF was taken of car on saturday and checked/cleaned. its all good! all other sensors checked and cleaned too and also all working correctly.

Just worte a big post about this and lost it.

I have had this sensor problem and only way car would do a forced re-gen was for the dealer to take it out on the road with a computer attached and get it to do a forced re-gen this way, despite there being no problem with DPF, except it tried to do 5 failed re-gens the day whilst I was waiting for the part to come in. Plus they can let you know the ash level of the dpf as well.

It sounds like one of the DPF ports is blocked/restricted. IIRC, that's the only way you can get the -3 reading. The bad news is that you may need another sensor if the adaption was done with the hoses connected. Pushing a blocked hose on exerts a positive pressure on that side.

Low voltage to the sensor can cause a problem and again a new sensor will be required once the wiring problem is fixed.
