Is the VAT Free offer Likely to be extended?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Returning to Skoda soon.

Im after a VRs TDI with DSG and Im wondering if Skoda are likely to extend the offer beyond the end of December. I'm hoping someone working for Skoda has any thoughts.

I would prefer waiting until around March/April before I change my car. However, the saving of over £5000 with the above offer is to much to ignore.

The other option is ordering the car and hope that it will take 3 months or more to become available :)

Any ideas?

You can no longer order a Octavia MK2 with any options you require, only cars already ordered are being manufactured since production of the current Octavia is being discontinued due to the new model due next year. If you were to order an Octavia today, you would have to take a car already in UK stock or someone elses cancelled order.

I suspect the VAT free offer will remain on the current Octavia so that cars in stock can be sold before the new one replaces it.

+1 ^^^^

My dealer was checking the UK stocklist for unsold vRS last week - there are only about 200 or so still available. My advice if you want one is to get in there sooner rather than later as you will probably find that all the new ones have gone - especially if you want one with any extras (again as above, there are no factory orders being taken). The Octavia 3 is out at the beginning of the new year and the new vRS is not expected until several months after that.

Interesting. I found myself driving past a dealer today, called in and was told that there are no new vrs's available in the UK!!

No hatches but there are estates.

Blimey makes me glad I got in when I did and got the choice of a Blackline or factory order tsi. Was going to wait till the new year but my dubiousness towards my astra not costing me money to get through its mot forced my hand

Thank you for all the replies. I didn't ask about the estate version so that's food for thought. Be easier fitting a Labrador into an estate :)

True that, but the hatchback boot is chuffing gigantism!

There are a number of pre-registered vRS's on the dealer network that appear to have been registered all at the same time as the number plates are consecutive. They appear to have been spec'd fairly highly. I have just gone from my second vRS hatch to an estate that came with xenons, parking sensors, privacy glass and metallic paint all for the price I was quoted on a hatch with only xenons 2 months ago! Buy and buy now!

I couldn't find a brand new one with the bits I wanted on (mainly because I was after a race blue manual). When I spoke to the dealers last week Wednesday, there were 260 VRS's left, mostly DSG's. I even had one of my friends check the cars as they came into the docks to see if I could find one that way, but they were all "allocated" already :(

My father in law knew one of the sales managers, so I spoke to him and mentioned I found a 12 plate with all the bits I wanted and his words were snap their hands off for it as you most likely won't find another one.

Good luck! :)

Got mine a month ago straight off the forecourt, done & dusted in a week. Xenon's, sunset glass, parking sensors & metallic paint. 12 plate Skoda pre-reg (Milton Keynes plate) with 40 'delivery' miles , glad I went for it when I did. Wasn't particularly looking for an estate but the price was right and I had one for 11 years through the 90's (not Skoda) so it was a bit like back to the future!!

Read about the dwindling supply situation after the event so quite fortuitous really, probably one of those banksie mentions above.

Think everyone knew that they were going to run out sooner or later, especially as the Blacklines went so quick but I didn't expect them to run out so soon so guess you'll have to grab what you can, while there's a few estates left. When the dealer said there were none available, was that 'none available at the moment but there are still some to be built' or 'that's it you're out of luck until the MKIII is available'

Look on the bright side get one now and the estate still works out cheaper with the VAT off than a hatch would have done before the offer. Gues those who bought 1 before the VAT offer arn't overly impressed.....

We were initially looking for another estate (we've got 2 Labradors) but after careful consideration decided that they will actually fit into the hatch so that's what we got. This decision was also helped by the wife's dislike of estate cars.
