Sun block

Featured Replies

Anyone ever tried getting sun block off the paintwork? It's the real sva 50+ stuff all over the bonnet. I've washed it loads of times but it just stays on.

Posted on a previous post.... I've had this at work a few years back on a Grand Cherokee with all panels covered in sun cream. It was left on in the baking sun all week until the guy came home & he then found that it couldn't be removed. We used everything under the sun to remove it (no pun intended) & managed to on 6 panels, we had to paint 4 due to the damage. Every sun cream is different & the effects will be different depending on weather too. Good luck

ChrisRs is having a go at getting off mine in 2 weeks time. I think a machine polish and cutting compound will be the only way. From what I have read it's the titanium dioxide in the sun cream that affects the clear coat. I'll let you know how we get on.

I like a challenge for a 'Challenge' ;)

IPA worked for me, it got the factor 50 goose fat off the car that my kids helpfully got all over the rear quarter.

Petrol. Just make sure you reapply polish wax etc after

But at least it's protected from the Sun's harmful rays
