scratch on new car (keyed?!)

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just noticed this morning some fool has keyed my passenger side door on my new Blackline. about 9 inches long on passenger side door (single panel).

Has anyone had work done to repair similar scratches and any recommended repairers in merseyside? What ball park figure should I expect?

Cheers

Matt

Scumbags. Feel sorry for you buddy. :wonder:

thanks, I may take it to Pearce Panel in Wallasey just up the road from me (I drive past them most days). They reckon ball park is about £100

Plus, he said he noticed my nice looking VRS with Black Alloys!! :-)

Chip and scratch mobile franchise people might be cheaper but you'd have to check round for reviews in your area.

Wouldnt you just love to catch these scumbags "in the act". Never seems to happen though. We have a local retired body shop guy near me and he is amazing. Charges £12 per hour and cost price for paint. Unbelievable value. Maybe ask around to see if there is anyone similar near you as for £130 i got my entire rear bumper and half my bootlid painted in mettalic blue on my BMW and the finish was incredible.

Not much help to you im afraid but we only found out about this guy through word of mouth so there may be someone similar nearer you.

I think if I caught the person doing this to my car then I don't think I could hold my fists back...

Thanks guys. The body shop is literally in an adjacent street and they did work for me many years ago on a Focus I had and they were excellent - plus they are always busy. I can walk home then :-)

If I caught them in the act, I can't say how I would have reacted, things like like really rile me.

What the **** is wrong with people these days? I had my mirror snaped off a couple of days ago.

Sorry to here about the car

All my thoughts on the matter are in this youtube link

I bet teenagers did it... I can't believe what 15 yr olds are doing now a days... My mates girlfriend brother who is also 15 has just been caught with whackey bbacky by the police... Jesus back when I was 15 I were on the street playing on my bike!

I toataly agree with their suggested punishment (after they had paid for the repair).

My thoughts exactly when our Fabia had a scratch on the rear off side door, then next day, who do I see squeezing his fat belly past the car and the gate? The postman! I got royal mail to pay for the repairs as it was caught on cctv! If he had walked down the nearside he would have had 6 feet of gap between the car and a wall!

I apologised to the teenagers that I slagged off.

Very sorry to hear about your door, I scratched my Yeti last night too, it won't polish out either.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune and yours James. We have a guy down here who is a professional valeter and his pictures show how he got some quite deep scratches out of a LR Discovery bonnet.http://adautoshine.co.uk/#/damage/4551141331

Might be worth investigating if that is possible and cheaper.

More sh1ts on the loose. :@

Maybe worth a call to your local chipsaway local mobile man? I had damage to my Altea at APH in manchester caused by someone reversing into it or the parker reversing into something else while i was lay in the sun. He charged 80 quid for readies, so may be worth a call?

Sorry to hear of your prang James, I hope you get it fixed soon fella

Sorry to hear about this pal i feel your pain. What colour is it and can you do a before and after pic. I'm just curious as to what can be achieved with a touch up as aposed to a complete panel respray. Im guessing White would be dead easy to touch up but Blue and Black are going to be sods.

I have been to see the Yeti today, I have been told it may be a write off, will find out for definite tomorrow

I had a horror experience with Chipsaway. I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

A write off James, blimey what on earth has been going on there, looks to be front panels, a scuttle plate and a respray to me, though I may be missing something important.

Ian

ChipsAway are franchised. If you are lucky enough to get a good one locally, they are worth their weight in gold!

A scratch like that should be about £100. But the repair will be mint!

Good luck chief! (I feel your pain and anger!)

Looks the same to me, but there is a percentage cut off for repairs against vehicle value. I am guessing that because it has 60k on it and is only worth about £11k repairs must be about £7k-£8k. I will find out tomorrow.

Cheers Dunc69 absolutely spot on too, I've been quoted £90 plus vat for a proper job, so its getting done on Monday. They say they could attempt to polish it out for £15 but its not as good a job.

Good to meet you earlier James, I hope your Yeti isn't a write off mate.
