In the case of Gap insurance my GF took it out on her Corsa nearly three years ago now, she had a bit of money and wanted to clear the finance on the car but found out if she paid the finance off the GAP insurance would not be in effect for the full three years, it would end when the finance was cleared.

Either they were talking bull to get her to pay the full three years interest or it's something to think about if you plan on clearing the finance early.

GAP Insurance has a number of exclusions, including "where the vehicle has been modified other than in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications." Also there are 2 versions - GAP (Shortfall Protection) and GAP Plus (Return to Invoice).
