Right I've been having some trouble the last few days that's pushed me over the edge and made me thing balls to it.

Went away for the weekend with the other half only to get back in the car the next day and have the car totally dead on me so called the AA out who replaced an alternator for me that wasn't working correctly so £150 later still not fixed tested everything out and found out the cable that connects t the alternator should have live coming from the brown cable and the blue cable but only 1 cable worked. Was told this was the dashboard module now has anyone ever experienced this and how do I fix it as its time to shift the car on as I've bought myself a mondeo st instead as I can't afford to risk my job with consistently putting money not the car.

Any help you guys can give will be great.

Thanks

Have you had it going at all since then? Does the starter turn? Is there charge in the battery?

There are a couple of sets of wires that "usually" go... Starter motor solenoid wire and the alternator signal wire(s). Have a couple of searches for more detailed symptoms and fixes.

There's a wire from the alternator which passes by the gearbox and has a connection that is made out chocolate, common problem a quick search should yield the relevant information.

Wouldn't turn over stall even tried jumping it. Now the AA guy has put a wire running from the alternator cable that's not working and connected that to the battery directly with a 5amp fuse that I've gotta put on and off if I want to use it until I get this problem solved.

If this is a cheap fix then realistically speaking I've bought a new car for nothing but ill be honest I'm happy for the change now with my rather ageing Fabia and lack of bloody goodies.

Thanks in advance for anymore advice guys

Anymore ideas ready for tomorrow as I can't even start the car today. Starter turns once but that's it.

As above, probably the wiring near the gearbox. Mine went, cheap fix & it's been fine since.
