Can you limit a top speed on a remap?

Featured Replies

Their might not be any codes. If you get any search ross techs site for the code.

Carry out a log of group 3, 11 and 8 from 2 krpm to 4.5krpm in 3 and change to four and go as high as you can. Post the results. Do each group seperate not all at once.

If it's not the speed limiter it must realted to revs, correct? Unless the system knows what gear you are in, which I dont think it does. If thats the case you would be limited to a certain speed in each gear.

Random one but have you had a new "used" gearbox?

The speed based torque limiter is revs and speed based on IQ. So at x revs/speed you can limit fuel. This is how you can use it for launch control for below x speed.

This is intriguing. My pd100 only does between 110 and 120 depending how it feels. Not remapped. Tried a different MAF i had but unsure if thats a dud too. Need to test one that works but unfortunately my mate sold his fabia :(

Its quite easy to reach 110 no problem in the car and happens quite fast so that doesnt help.

He's just not thinking about the possibility of the cars hes overtaking missjudging his speed and pulling out infront of him leaving everyone dead.

On your private road I assume?.....No wonder insurance for a Fabia vRS is increasing :(

I'm going to sound like an old fart...but why????

Even on a track day I barely touched 100.

If the conditions and the road were clear then there's no reason why that is unsafe... just illegal.

There is something obviously wrong with the car that he's trying to fix.

If our car only just managed 110-115 it would be a real pain with the frequency that we go to Germany.

What are the engine revs when doing that speed?

I think ours is at about 3000rpm at over 100mph.

Phil

I think what did it for me was .....

I was chasing a fiesta zetec s last night

Doing 115 on an autobahn where the conditions are fine is absolutely no problem. People expect high speed and lane discipline is good.

Racing at 115 mph on the road in the UK is a completely different story.

Well I'm not going to speculate on the conditions and ammount of traffic. It may have been a completely empty stretch of road for all we know.

If you have had a new gearbox it may be that the gears are wrong.

I got my gearbox rebuilt and they put the wrong gears in it. 3000rpm saw 70 on the speedo and I could drive in 6th at 30. It also topped out at about 110mph.

Just a thought...

Phil

Acceleration is fun, top speed is boring.

It doesn't sound like you have a boost leak if it's still pulling strong then.

Phil

You deffo need to get it checked out with VCDS and check that the speed limiter hasn't been tampered with.

If it is something in the remap then the only way you would know would be to go back to stock.

When did you have the remap done?

Phil

Is the car being starved of something at top end? (Fuel, air?)

Yeah Phil. Im not sure. If he has done it ill take it back to him and tell him sort it. I didnt ask for no speed limiter lol

Had it done about 2 months ago now
