New Octavia details

Featured Replies

See that some details of the new Octavia have been revealed:

Anyone care to speculate on possible implications for the Yeti FL (if it ever comes to pass that is)?

Most obviously, does this reinforce ideas about the family face for Skoda? But there's also further information about the top-end TSi and TDi engines being increased (unsurprisingly) to 168 and 181 BHP respectively inSkoda models. And likely confirmation of a higher torque capacity 7-speed DSG. Finally, details of various cabin refinements and innovations, but perhaps these are less likely on the Yeti as a FL rather than next-gen model.

There is already plenty of discussion in the Octavia MK3 forum, to avoid duplication please pop over there to post comments regarding the Octavia MK3. Posts regarding the recent launch event in this thread will be removed, please keep this thread Yeti related.

The Yeti has not even had a midlife facelift yet, so I expect it will continue as is for the foreseeable future.

Please read what the original post said. I do not wish to comment on the Octavia per se, nor would I expect anyone else to, the post was about possible implications for the Yeti. What could be more Yeti-related?

Ah well Mannyo says there will be no YETI face lift, so there is NO chance of seeing any of these new engines in a YETI then?

I'd expect them to update the YETI engines to the later versions with the facelift 2013-2014, but the better 7 speed DSG will come down to VW and Skoda UK.

I doubt they'll fit the better diesel to some models and not others, when they'll slot right in.

There was talk of the MQB platform requiring different mounting points to current, hence revised/new engines and gearboxes.

But I'd expect a company like VW to make their new engines and boxes backwards compatible to current chassis too, perhaps a second set of mounting points or alternative casing is used.

6 speed DSG? I thought they had stronger 7 speeds coming.
