Thanks to ljp01 for useful reply to ‘Do rear caliper pistons have to be wound back in?’

Looks like disks and pads about due for replacement - not too bothered about that (Nearly 4 years old 42 000 miles) not too delighted that caliper was leaking. However on closer inspection the caliper is not leaking. The contamination is not brake fluid it is the sticky gunge which now comes on the back of brake pads (as an alternative to applying copper grease to the back of the pads), it would appear that it heats up and starts to run.

Anybody else noticed this?

Can’t see the point in this change given that it has not even eliminated the use of copper grease which still has to be applied to sliding surfaces.
