Brakes - Pagid v Eicher

Featured Replies

Looking for new rear disks and pads

2008 MY Octavia 1.9Tdi

Disks: Pagid £28.74 v Eicher £19.80 each

Pads: Pagid £17.10 v Eicher £12.90

Not really too bothered about cost difference if the Pagids are in any way better – But are they?

Thanks

I reckon so, not least because pagid are painted so are resistant to rust

on the non service areas of the disc. Nothing more ugly than rusty discs.

I'd get matching pads though. I'd imagine they are developed to work together

What about EBC I had them on my civic with greenstuff pads. They worked well and reasonable cost. Mintex are good and is there one brand call forodo or something?

I wouldnt go for either.

I prefer Mintex and have been using them for years.

You should be able to get them from a local factors for a similar price.

Mintex and pagid are both owned by tmd friction. There's little in it. Can't comment on eicher but for that little I'd get what I know works.

I have Eicher pads on the front and until now Ive never had a set of pads clunk, click, squeal and make some other noise similar to the horn on a steam ship when its cold. Ive never used Pagid myself but have fitted them to other peoples cars with no complaints.

I fitted 312 brake to the L&K. The hubs, calipers, discs and pads came from a 100mile Sirocco which had been written off. Ran them in as per instructions and had much better brakes ever since. Seem to wear well and don't make as much dust as whatever was on there before. Not heard a noise either.

Ive only ever used Mintex or Pagid (as mentioned above - from the same group) and never had any issues. As good as OE imo. May sound like a daft comment but Eicher always just look too cheap to me.

The garage at work only ever fit OE equipment for all braking equipment. They have done trials and experiments in the past with other manufacturers to see if there are any gains in performance/lifespan/costs etc - the continuation with OE would probably indicate their findings.

ferodo premier are very good standard pads

I fitted pagid front and back on mine just over a year ago, they've covered 20k with no issues what so ever

I fitted Pagid 312mm discs and pads to the L&K, got them from ECP, no complaints about them. Seems to be plenty of meat on the pads when new.
