He dosnt want to sell it does he? :D iv found one but its "drift spec" which is code for....had the ****e kicked out it

Gearboxes blow up alot, im too tall, and too slow without boosting

You presumed incorrectly that its owned by a man :) and no I don't think she will ever sell it

Rx7's will make you wish for the reliability of the vrs they are old now and need rebuilds fairly regularly

What about the accord type r ?

A lassie with a soarer ? :o think iv just had a "crisis"

No personal experience but a mate bought an RX-7 a year or so ago and within a few months had to have another lump - I think it's common practice for the car to kill itself at 50k.

that's because they have ****el engines.

Stoopid filter, it's a proper word ffs :D

I have just spent an hour watching rx7 videos and trying to convince myself that it is a silly idea to buy one. Still not convinced myself yet. emoticon-0108-speechless.gif O well back off on to youtube to watch some more.

A granny with a Soarer actually :) ill put some pics up later

I know someone with a Aristo for sale but I think insurance is going to hurt on anything jap with a turbo

Join the club stu :D

That aristo looks intresting, il get a quote

Cant insure the aristo compare the market cant find any details on it except thats its imported and either a supra or a soarer.....strange

You'll probably need a specialist insurer for most jap imports someone like

Sky insurance

Adrian Flux

Pace ward

a plan

  • Author

possibly.....usaly admiral and elephant are by far the cheapest so i didnt think there was any point worth trying but i might need to give them a shot

For any specialist vehicle, generally speaking you're better off with a specialist insurer.

I want all of those, id love a r34 but the insurance is fecking ridiculouse :(

Iv found another manual soarer for sale buts its been converted and they dont like to insure me on ones that were autos for some strange reason :(

Cant see a Soarer being any cheaper than a Skyline , have you tried getting quotes on RX8's with aftermarket turbos??

  • Author

A facotry manual soarer is 1200 to insure whereas the cheapest skyline quote i got was 9000..... The prices seem to be a hit or a miss

Naaa not yet just standered quotes which came to 1100 which is the same as for an altezza

That surprises me as i said going from a 400hp heavily modified Evo 6 to a pretty stock 300hp Skyline cost me an extra £50 as the R34 is a higher group due to the extra 500cc, the Soarer is a similar engine size and power to the Skyline and parts will be as hard to come by

Specialist insurers are a must on imports though, you cant use comparison websites you need to phone around , even i get nonsense out of them and being an old git i only pay around £550 for the R34 fully comp

I spoke to sky insurance on the phone earlier and for the altezza they couldnt quote anything close to what i got from admiral, mainly due most of their insurers having a 21+ policy

Think an altezza is looking likely, can pick up a good one for 5grand and then a greddy turbo kit is around a coupleof grand plus i think they look quite cool and it should be able to keep up with my mates modified 350z and s15 (vrs isnt far behind)

Did you buy that off a guy in the SOC (Skyline Owners Club) ?

It looks very familiar.

I took him out for a ride in my R35 at Snetterton as he was thinking of changing it.

I did I've been on the SOC for 6 years

Just to revive this a bit Stu but have you looked in to a Mitsubishi GTO?

I did have a brief look but a few of my mates said the engines were very complicated to work on, might have to get a quote because i still love the way they look

What about a Silvia? Glanza (too small?)? Pulsar (stupid money though)?

Or back to some 80's/90's cars - Cherry Turbo, Bluebird ZX Turbo or Mitsubishi Starion

Or raid the bank and get an NSX

2 mates have an s13 and a s15, yup glanza is to small and a bit chavvy around here although a mate at work had one with 350bhp and it annahilated m3s, pulsars munch gearboxs and too deer

Ohhh nonono dont tempted me with an nsx.....the only honda i would seriusly consider owning (well maybe a fd2 civic for uniqness)

Wouldnt say no to a nissan 2000gtr but there fsr to deer now :( quite like the starion but trying to find a good one could be a problem.....hmmmm evo engine swap?:D
