Featured Replies

Been with a mate to leeds BCA, it was trade only BMW auction. Most car was in A1 showroom condition, The diesel is so quiet even in a big hall. They all had the original OTR price. A BMW 2010 320se with business pack and M sport(leather, idrive)etc etc with 19,000 on clock when for £13,000. original price was £28950. car was so quiet it was unreal , i think i will buy one of those next time i change my car

I like the sound of the large savings, but working at a dealer at the moment...where my boss buys half a dozen premium cars at a time, they all seem to need a bit of tlc...or a lot in some cases!

It's just a little scary if your the one buying a lemon that might of been taken back from warranty work then sold on?

Leon - you bought a lemon vRS recently?

Have to agree with what Leon says here even if he's colour blind LOL- most of us (well me anyway) are not clued up enough to spot a well disguised lemon which is why we go down the new car/main dealer route. There's 1 thread eslewhere on this site where someone had a real problem with an S3, which the dealer eventually took back and has now gone to auction for some other unsuspecting poor s*d to end up buying. Fortunatly the guy concerned got his money back, but I bet there's loads that wouldn't have been so lucky lucky lucky Kilie If you're experienced enough to take advantage of the auctions without getting caught out I wish you all the best in your efforts to beat 'the system' me I'm just a wimp! :giggle:

Likely ex rentals

And we all know the fastest car on the road is a rental. I'd run a mile from one

That didn't cross my mind at the time!!

Thanks Ad Lav and Littleade - I'm very happy with my Lemon! :p

Was reading this the other day, more than a lemon

Don't think I'd ever be able to risk spending that much down the auction route - nor private for that matter. So the bargains are all yours, people.

I find it hard to believe the dealer had not picked up on the Ford battery and the poor repainted front bumper, showing another colour underneath in places.

That was shocking. Sadly not a surprise. When looking for cars for my brother, going round several garages all I could see were cars with bad shut lines, mismatching paint colours with orange peeling. I can't unsee it now. Lots of dodgy cars out there and it's now a minefield. When someone asks me to recommend a garage for a used car I honestly can't any more.

I have just read all 7 pages of that.

THAT IS ******* SHOCKING.

How are they allowed to get away with that? It is shocking that a vw dealer sold a car in such a poor condition. I mean come on, a ford battery and a bumper that had been resprayed white so poorly that after a few washes the paint could be rubbed off and the original green paint could be seen under it.

All of that on a 12 plate car with 2000 miles on it.

How did the dealer even give it a 'vw approved' sticker on the windscreen after it had been crashed?

And to top it off it is back for sale again 'vw approved'.

This has made me soooo angery. I really do feel for the guy who has had all these problems.

+100% for me too... just goes to show what is out there and the more the car is worth is no guarentee it's not been in a big smash- in fact this seems to make it the more the car is worth the more likely it is to find it's way back on the road when is should be scrapped. I'm guessing some insurance company either sold this on to some back street crook or thet had it poorly repired themselves. I think we need legislation to solve this abuse as practices such as these are both putting people in danger and could be classed as fraudulent practice as the buyer would never have bought it if they'd known. :@

Really, where? I didn't see that mentioned...

I've bought a number of cars from auction, only one has been a real dog.

I just put it back in the auction (I actuall made £200 on that one)

Yes there is a gamble but its the chance you take
