Fabia VRS, :)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Purchased a Red Mk1 Fabia VRS at the weekend, its absolutly imacculate! Previously owned by a detailer so not a single swirl on the paintwork.. very clean! :)

Its got 80,000 on the clock with full service history (5 Skoda stamps)

Sold my 2007 Grande Punto 1.2 and strictly saved up for a couple of months to fund it!

Im 21 years old and my insurance for the year is £1800. Opinons on this?

Im not really clued up on detailing or car cleaning very much but im going to be strict and keep it away from public car washes as the paintwork is too good it ruin.. So bought myself some Turtlewax car shampoo and polish and few other bits (buckets, sponges, clothes, chamois leather etc..) this evening.

Pictures to follow soon!

  • Sounds great I have a red VRS too! Do you still have the receipt for the sponges and chamois? If so take them back You'll be wanting a wash mitt or two and a drying towel rather than a chamois. Als

Hello! Welcome and yeah £1800 sounds about right I'm 21 also and pay around that as it has just dropped because I've moved from a bd12 to a bd19 postcode..... You didn't buy the one from dm Keith in Bradford did you??? That was a mint red one! :)

Oh right well any advice would be greatly apprichiated because like i said i dont really know much about it lol..

ive seen the lambswool mitts on ebay for around £9..

and no it was from a guy in Lichfield, just outside the birmingham area :)

I think swirls are pretty much unavoidable to be honest but in order to minimise the chances I would say a good pressure wash rinse & snow foam before you go near the car with a mitt would be necessary

Have a look in the group buy section at the wash mitt & wheel mitt in there.

I could also tell you that its advised that you should use 1 mitt for the top half of the car and 1 mitt for the bottom half of the car.

I don't take much care in order to keep the swirls down in my paint work at the moment as its already full of them but once I get my hands on a polisher its something I'm hoping to sort out :).

Congrats on the car. To be keeping it in the tip top condition its in

you'll be needing 2 buckets, a good quality mitt, a couple of grit guards,

some decent shampoo (meguiars gold class is good), A decent wax

(nattys red paste wax is good value for money) I'd advise some Poorboys black hole

as a pre wax glaze (Works well on red cars, and gives depth of colour and a smooth

surface for waxing) A big bundle of microfibre cloths, a couple of wax applicators

a couple of drying towels, and some tyre gel (Chemical guys tyre and trim gel is excellent).

Take a look at cleanyourcar.co.uk for an idea of prices and what is available for car

detailing. It's an addiction and the stuff I've listed is just the tip of the iceberg.

It's a question of taste at the end of the day and others may advise different products

but I've found all these to be good quality and decently priced.

my insurance is £780 and im 22 with 1 year no claims and i have a claim as my car caught fire!

When you get to 65 years old it'll drop to just under £300 per annum, like mine. LOL

Crumbs, I am 29 and mine is only £360 for the year, fully comp, no excess, 9 years NCD...

...Oh and mods declared!

I put a thread up in the 'Styling and Car Care' section of this forum regarding cleaning products and the process involved. Called 'Cleaning Wishlist' if you fancy a look. Might give you some idea of the products and process involved.

Detailing World is a really good forum to look at too. You can find some very useful tips on there.

Sorry Dan, not trying to steer people away from your thread mate :)

My renewal is in January, I'll be earning my 3rd NCB, also 20 so I'll see what kind of quotes I get for that :)

£420 with 3 years ncb for ibiza fr. I think they're slightly lower than the fab vrs

Don't get me started lol he lives near Birmingham if I'm correct??? Which is just as bad as Bradford where I live. Places with high immigration rate people new to the Uk driving with no insurance or licence I pay £1800 on mine now 21 3years no claims no crashes etc ifs cheaper for me on a mk2 2.0t octy vrs which I will hopefully be getting later next year lol

No I live in greater Manchester lol. That's the best quite I can find. And yes my dad is a named driver, some company's wanted 2300 with a tracker box for my parents to monitor my driving. Monitors things like 'fast acelleration' and other things.. There's no way I'm having one of them fitted! I had one on my first car a few years back but it was a tracker where the car had to be parked up between 11pm-5am
