Oh dear im going mad, is this one step to far?

Featured Replies

Been to lincoln today to pick up my new spare alloy wheel courtesy of Horton Skoda and a Race blue touch up kit. (Thanks Horton!) Then to worksop to drop off sister in law to pick up her new car and then follow her all the way back to Mansfield. Quite a drive and would have been an enjoyable one had it not been for the Monsoon Rain we are having. Had to take multiple diversions to avoid the flooded Trent and we had to ford quite a few small rivers that had formed in the road. The car got an absoulte soaking from the bow waves that resulted from inconsiderate 4x4 drivers not slowing down as they went passed. So (coming to the madness bit now) when i got home i decided that the entire car needed hosing down to remove all the suspected effluent and river water. I could almost feel the burning gaze of the neighbours as they watched me hose the car down in the pouring rain. Most people im sure wouldn't go to these extremes and just let the rain wash it off but i wanted to do around the inner wheel arches and in the alloys. Im really surprised the collinite is still working its about 6 weeks sinse application and its still nearly as good as when i put it on.

Thats quite normal. I clean mine when I get home. Its called OCD, but quite normal to those with the condition

Sounds like the thing I'd do too.

Sounds like you rate `Hortons`. I nearly got my new car from them but they offered me so little for my Jag that I went elsewhere.

If you look after it should be able to get nearly 6 months out of Collinite.

I live in Rainworth literally a stone’s throw away from Rainworth Skoda. Yet I choose to drive all the way to Lincoln to buy / service my cars. Once you find a good honest dealer it pays to be loyal back to them. This is a reflection also on Rainworth Skoda's very poor customer service and dangerously bad repair work. Lies and Arrogance I do not tolerate so I take my business to Horton’s.

Its a good idea to reapply before your LSP fails..Typically after 3 months if it was me

Trust me first sunny day i get and im back out with the polish and wax. Although i want to get some snow foam first.

Strip back your old wax before you use a polish again..I Use Farecla Detox or you can use Fairy liquid and APC

Polish........then an IPA wipe down to remove the oils followed by your LSP of choice..

It will last longer as it will have bonded better

I used to rinse my bike down after a ride if it was raining / muddy etc, wet mud is alot easier to remove than the dried on stuff especially in the rear shock / swing arm area!

  • 2 weeks later...

Gave the wifes filthy yellow Fiat 500 a wash in the rain the other day.

Put on a mac and my wellies and went out and got on with it.

I suspect my neighbors also think I'm mad, but it was really really filthy.

It was well waxed in the Autumn and beaded up lovely all over after it was

washed and rinsed. And I didn't have to dry it either just this once :p
