Anyone have Team Dynamics Imola wheels on their Octy mk2?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm picking up my vrs cr 170 limited edition next week and after reading of the horror stories some have had with the limited edition wheels I've decided that I'll probably replace them soon. I'd love to get a set of Neptunes, but my budget won't stretch that far!

I like the look of the Team Dynamics Imolas 18" and was wondering if anyone had them on their mk2? If so I'd love to see some pictures, especially curious to know how they'd look on a car with standard suspension.

Any pics or opinions would be welcome.

Cheers

;)

I believe the Ltd Edition actually wears a private label set of Team Dynamics Monza and I would expect the Imolas to be about the same in terms of quality. I think, for the price, they are gravity cast whereas the Pro Race are low pressure cast which gives them some extra strength without compromising on weight.

Ah, I see. I think you're right about the Monzas. The Pro Race could be an option then, I just quite liked the look of the Imolas, kinda BBS-esque without the BBS price tag! Thanks for the info! ;)

Mine lowered approx 30mm and on TDPR 1.2s

I've pro1.2's on my Octavia. Makes a big difference on the feel of the car. Would recommend them. Not the most flashy of alloys but serve the purpose.

Would post a picture but only on my phone.

hi have fox fx04 on mine keeps the look of the limited edition lost pics so will try later

If you're not able to afford a good quality alloy, then I'd stay on the OEM ones over winter and until the roads are repaired.

Put a bit of cash asside in that time, then get the quality alloys you want.

You'll be able to sell your existing alloys too.

+1 for OEM / genuine alloys.

The poor quality of the Monza's is a prime example of why cheap alloys are a false economy.

You've just spent a lot of cash on a new car, putting another few hundred pounds on your wheel budget (if you can) will get you a set of proper alloys

that match the car, won't look like Halfords specials and will stand up better to the thousands of pot holes appearing every day.

Is the LE coming from a main dealer? Ask if they'll sell you a set of Neptunes at close to cost price.

Cracking idea!

personally I'd look for some wheels which keep the original look of the LE rather than changing for them for neptunes which, in the words of one Briskodian, 'look like a flower'

Unfortunately I'm not buying the LE from a main dealer...

I agree with the "you get what you pay for" idea tho, the plan is to stick with the LE alloys for as long as I can, giving me more time to put some money aside to get a set of better quality alloys.

(Thanks for posting the pic j0hn, the Pro-race 1.2 is looking quite tempting... (as is the suspension drop!))

The anthracite paint in no longer unique to the LE.

The LE has fantasic seats. No contest.

However the alloys look aftermarket and at the end of the day are aftermarket.

Unless you are a Octavia vRS fanatic then to the untrained eye they look just like Halfords specials.

And to top it off they are made out of cheese and are a bitch to clean.

I know what I would prefer. Not this...

TBH I slightly prefer the LE wheels to the neptunes, but I certainly prefer the pre FL headlights, the nicer seats, and the absence of the chavvy DRLs. The reason I'd stay true to te LE wheels is that it's part of what sets it apart - as you say, the paint job isn't unique........

Essentially the whole reason I went for the LE was because I wanted the pre FL exterior and FL interior. The seats sealed the deal and the wheels were just an added bonus. If I were to change them it'd be for something in keeping but if I had to move away from that I'd take the zeniths over the neptunes any day.......
