New yeti

Featured Replies

I am considering changing my fabia 1.6 diesel for a yeti 1.2 se. Does anybody know if I'll find running costs a lot higher and also if anybody knows of any dealers that are prepared to do a good deal on the yeti as am getting fed up with dealers saying they can sell at full price and don't need to discount.

Many thanks guys

Talk to Lee at Preston motors. They're sponsors on Briskoda.

As for running costs I guess you'll lose about 15mpg.

The Yeti 1.2 is very popular on here ,so speaks for itself really.

I notice you are based In Essex, I bought my Yeti last year from Underwoods in Colchester who nearly matched a drive the deal quote, I guess I saved about 10% on the list price.

Many thanks for that. Can I ask how you find the yeti and the running costs?

Some of us have links in our signatures. Click on those and it will tell you - Mine is quite comprehensive, but it is for the CR140 DSG diesel. Saying that, the fuel economy is not dissimilar to the 1.2tsi.

The fuel economy of my Wife's 1.2 depends on the type of journey (and who's driving!) - everyday A and B roads the Wife averages 42-44mpg; on the motorway that drops to around 40mpg. If I'm driving take 10% off those figures. Saying that, the best I've ever seen was 52mpg on a steady A road run in heavy traffic.

In the Fabia I'm guessing you'll be seeing around 55-60mpg.

The 1.2 TSI Yeti does around 35-40mpg in normal use, it doesn't get much better on a run because of the shape.

So with petrol being a little cheaper than diesel, but a loss of 33% in fuel economy you will see a rise in running costs.

But obviously the more miles you do, the bigger it will be.

On an average 10k miles per year I'd estimate an extra £10 per week in fuel costs, based on the 60/40mpg as above.

With regard to dealers, I am also in Essex (near Chelsmford) and I use Preston Motors in East London.

They are very helpful and also sponsor Briskoda.

Call them and mention you are a Briskoda user. :)

Im getting mid 30's fuel consumption, thats just from driving around Liverpool,no motorway driving. My car is on variable servicing and will be getting its first service at about 14-15 months old.

Tried Skodastore myself for the wife's new Fabia but they gave me one price over the phone, only to knock 1k off the P/X in the follow up e-mail. Gave me some waffle about getting the age of the P/X wrong when I rang back to double check and didn't appear particularly bothered if they got our business or not :wonder:

Suffice to say I got better prices from Preston Motors (Lee Harrison - 0208 534 0981) and Hortons of Lincoln (Colin Edmondson - 01522 508650) than from four other dealers I tried. Hortons got the deal in the end by a cats whisker (plus closer to home) but Lee is by far the better communicator.

TP

I can also vouch for Preston Motors and Lee Harrison in particular who gave me a good deal on my 1.2TSI SE earlier this year. As to running costs I am getting about 35mpg around town and 40+ on longer runs. Like others on this forum I love my Yeti and I think the 1.2 engine is a little gem.

I didn't find out about the option of the 16" wheels that is talked about on this forum until after I bought my 1.2 SE plus DSG, and finding this forum.

I think the smaller rims would make £50 or more difference to the running costs per year. Buying again, I would research that as replacing one tyre that was fitted as standard was about £130. I am getting about 38mpg in winter, 41 in summer, driven carefully.
