This turns off "deadlocks" so handles inside car will unlock the door if pulled.

My understanding of it is...

If you press it twice within 2 seconds it disables the active warning system or something, when I read in the manual it said that when you disable the active warning system by pressing the button twice in 2 seconds, the car will lock as normal, but the alarm isnt set and a passenger can just pull the door handle to unlock the car (if they were still inside), pressing it just once completely locks the car and sets the alarm and even if the passenger did try to open the door they couldnt without reaching over to the unlock button on the drivers arm rest by which time the alarm will of gone off

My next question is pretty simple too, is there a way like on a Mercedez that when you unlock the car the lights come on (on my dad merc, front & rear and fogs light up for about 20 seconds or so) so that you know where it is in the car park

One press on lock is the car in safe 'mode' aka deadlock.

Two press in sucession car locks in normal locking mode (single lock, car car be opened from inside, also on some models deactivates the interior monitoring).

I did have one quibble with the key, well, two i suppose. First the having to press the key twice to open both doors was irritating when I had company, but certainly nothing to lose any sleep over.

The main one however, was that on a couple of occaisions, the key got pressed in my pocket whilst at a friends house, opening the boot, while I was unaware. I was not so happy about this!!!

I have scratched the drivers door so I can find it in the dark, has anybody rigged the tailgate so it fully opens when you keep the middle button down instead of just popping open? shouldnt be too difficult.

Would need to change the Hydraulic arms I would imaging?

Not something I would want to do with the car in my garage, somebody keeps throwing a bucket of muddy water on the tailgate as the rest of the car is spotless, this is a very bizarre trait of the Fabia! It would be handy for supermarkets if it fully opened on the button.
