120Nm for the wheels....nooo way

??????? Why not

Normally 120nm - 140nm for a lot of cars

Yes way....

Manual quotes

Road wheels 120Nm or 89Ibs

Sump Plug 40Nm or 30Ibs

this is huge....I think I tight my nuts something like 40Nm

120 is quite easy to do with my torque wrench and easy to undo again with a breaker bar.

40 is way too low, you could do that with one hand.

If you go somewhere like kwikfit they normally seem to aim for 1200Nm or more if they get it with the gun.

Haynes manual also says the same for the roadwheel bolts, not sure about the sump plug. I think I might avoid travelling in IulianE's car anytime soon :giggle:

me too :)

Just tighten them til they shear, then back them off half a turn. :D

The KwikFit approach. Actually I have to confess to nearly doing that when I changed the front pads on the then gf's fabia. I ended up torquing up the retaining bolts on the front calipers a bit too much.... I realised just in the nick of time and swapped the bolts over. Not sure which would have been worse - a caliper which might have fallen off, or a the fact she was driving around with no friction material and didn't seem to even notice.... :wonder:
