Having mine fitted today by Mike Holroyd.

Damn it - was hoping Ed might have still had this in a week or so!

Looks good - on the list for mine although thinking I'm going to get my spare grill coded/wrapped first, then coils and a wheel refurb before a Bolero.

That said, I'm enjoying the 6CD changer I 'found' in the boot after 2 years of owning the car! :wall:

Not jealous in the least bit! Ok maybe just a tad ;-)

He will be helping me over the phone, such a nice chap. I hope to then help a mate fit his

Lol, Davey that's quite amusing. Didn't think I would be getting it but my Dad got it for me for Christmas so well chuffed. Hopefully I can fit it tomorrow, weather permitting

Let me know how easy/hard it is!

Did you need a new gateway as well?

In case anyone needs to know the front pulls off to revel the screw holes

Dead easy to do providing you don't need to do any coding. That's where Mike comes in, I suspect. Be careful not to lose the screws inside the unit as I did as they're a right PITA to get out again.

Yep, that's the small unit on top of the bolero and will let you know. Ed coded the new unit so fingers crossed it doesn't need much

Lost one in the stream so will get that out when I remove it.

Quite fancy a bolero unit myself. Do all cars require a new gateway for it to work?

I believe so, but I'm sure someone can confirm why it drains the battery

I put an RCD510 which is essentially the same VW unit in my R and no coding was required. It just worked :-)

The Bolero in my previous Octy which replaced my Stream MP3 "just worked" as well when I fitted it.

So chances are my 2008 plate car will just work as the gateway may be the correct one??

It's in, 3 f88kimg hours! My hands are wrecked and my back is killing me but I'm done.

The gateway was a real pig to get to behind the steering wheel but it felt good to see it working and only the steering wheel fault appear on the screen. Aux sill works, but the changer in the boot doesn't although that's not the end of the world

The steering fault will go when you take it for a drive, that is due to disconnecting the battery.

I didn't have the CD changer in the boot, so either it needs coding or there is a sequence to access it on the bolero

Eddie, sorry should have said I need to go for a drive. Will have a look and see if the changer can be coded.

Also may order a fakra 2-1 as I think I must have attached the am as that is working really well and the fm is a little crackly at times

Thanks again for great service fella

When you change the antenna, you might need to change the earth wire on the CD changer plug (on rns510 it causes destorted sound) Pin 2 to pin 3

I'm not sure if it is ok or not on the bolero, so try before you put it all back

My CDC worked in conjunction with the Bolero - a car with a 12 disc play list - it was brilliant, if a little OTT !

I found the later bolero wouldn't see my CD changer, and wouldn't let me code it for CDC either, an earlier bolero worked fine.

I tried to allow it, but vcds said no when I ticked the option for changer. Not the end of the world seeing as all my music is only 20GB

No issues with the brightness of the unit, worked a treat this morning on the way to work. Just need to sort the aerial (numpty moment) and then I am done............ for now!
